Antique Vintage Ceramic Porcelain French Lady Man Head Bust Figurines 50's
An Estate find we have an adorable old set of ceramic/ porcelain Bust Figurines probably dating to around the 50's or so. They measure about 6 1/2" tall by about 4 1/2" at their widest. Gorgeous pink. White, green and gold coloring. In wonderful condition for their age. The man looks to be free of any damage, but has what looks to be a minute manufacturer flaw in the porcelain in the middle of his back. The lady has a couple of marks on her chin, can't really tell what it is, possibly ink marks and a small repair on the bow atop her head, all not too noticeable but wanted to mention. We can find no Makers Marks. Their attire looks to be French. We have not cleaned these and they could use a wee wipe down. Photos were taken with a flash for detail. A beautiful pair of late 19th century Antique Volkstedt Porcelain figurines. The figurines depicts a gentleman and his wife in matching floral attire with lace trim. The man measures 9" tall. The woman measures 8.25" tall. They are both marked with the blue underglaze Volkstedt double hayfork mark. c1890s. The figurines are in overall good condition for their age. The gentleman is missing the item in his hand and has some normal wear to his lace trim. Faint impression on the back bottom of girl that looks like"GERMANY" Which I've tried to capture in the photos but is so light as to be indiscernible. Bisque porcelain with a green matte glaze with gold accents. Superb condition for age with only some minor chipping: Boy: flower is missing its leaves- Girl: Flower is missing one petal. All else is intact and perfect! No repairs, hairlines, etc. Check out the girls' hat! Both are standing on ladders(orchard sitters) Heavy from being filled. No other discernible marks. One is a boy wearing a Swiss Alpine style hat and back pack. He carries a walking stick in one hand. The other is a little girl with a big bow in her hair. She has long braids down her back and she wears an old fashioned pinafore over her pleated skirt. The fronts of the figures were hand painted; the backs remain plain white. On each figure. The backs of the shoes are marked(impressed) One foot reads: GERMANY and includes the marking of a C with two arrows running through it. The word DEP follows. The other foot/shoe reads with a number code 10644 along with a number 15 and the word GERMANY. ... moreThe marks on theses pieces identify the maker as the Carl Schneider factory and I believe the format dates the pair from some time in the late 19th century(circa 1879 to 1886) Note: the word DEP indicates the piece was Registered. This practice did not start until the year 1879. Both pieces measures approx 8" high. The girl is slightly less and closer to 7 7/8" tall. Condition: Unfortunately the boy has a bit of damage. The upper end of his walking stick has broken off right were it extends from his hand. One has to look closely to notice this. And it is really more noticeable to touch(as it is a little sharper than normal) rather than to the eye. There are no other chips, and NO cracks. There are NO repairs. All the nice detail in bow and hat show no damage. There is obvious color wear, with much of the paint on front being worn off. Finally, when looking very closely at boy's nose one may notice a slight irregularity- this is from when the piece was made and is not damage or wear. These are two gorgeous mid to late 1800's figurines of a man and woman done in blue and white with Dresden lace. They are both 13" tall and I believe the mark on the bottom of the figures is from a German factory in the 1800s. They are wonderfully ornate. Both of the figurines are wearing hats and the man is holding an ax in one hand and the woman looks to be holding a small scythe in one of her hands. In their other hand they are holding flowers. The woman is carrying a large basket of flowers and an urn also filled with flowers is beside her. The man's arm is resting on a large pitcher which sits on a cut off tree which is also done in blue and white. The only other colors are their faces. Gilt is applied to the edges of the cape. He wears a pale blue beret on his head which was usually worn only by french nobility in the 18th century. This wonderful set of Victorian bisque figurines was made in Germany c. 1885. They measure 10" and are in excellent condition! This matching set is unusual as both the girl and the boy are dressed in pink! The boy is holding a cat and the girl is holding a mandolin. With the exception of a few teeny. Tiny pin-head-size flakes along the bottom edge of each figurine(two each) they are in excellent condition with no damage.no repairs, cracks, or chips. Large 12" German Bisque Victorian Figurines, c. 1890, MINT, Antique Statues!
This larger set of Victorian bisque figurines was made in Germany in the 1890's. They measure 12" tall and are in excellent condition with no noticeable damage or repairs. They depict a boy and girl dressed in blue outfits with peach and yellow trim. It is also interesting to note that the boy has brown eyes and the girl's eyes are blue! It is amazing that these have survived intact as they have many details which extend outward from their bodies.flowers. Fingers, feathers, and sashes.
