All is in great condition except one minor flaw on front of door(see pic 5) and a minor place on one piece of the bamboo(manufacturer flaw see pic 12) Front pieces of bamboo look like they are faded but that is the way it was when purchased. Classic Hepplewhite cherry wood table by Cabinet Maker Charles Wishtart circa 1965. Seller introduction: I am not a fine furniture dealer. Simply the nephew of the American cabinet maker/ fine furniture maker Charles Wishtart. My uncle Charles accepted me as an apprentice back in the early 1970's when his health was fading. He was a great uncle and we all miss him. My cousin. His son Leonard, carried on the shop's business but now at 90 he is currently selling off the shop's inventory and tools. No need to go into long praises for my uncle's fine furniture as his reputation is well known and his old world craftmanship speaks for itself including the governor's mansion in Pennsylvania which has a Wishtart original as do museums and fine personal collections. This is an offering for a classic Hepplewhite style table by Charles ... moreWishtart. His name is branded into the wood as was his practice. This excellent item has no defects whatsoever. It has been very well cared for since my wife and I received it. As a wedding gift. In the early 1970's. It has been regularly waxed with only my Uncle's original beeswax formula polish. I still have some of it and will make it available to the buyer so that this piece can be properly cared for(Pledge spray and silicone polishes have no place on this caliber of furniture) This vintage piece is his classic solid cherry wood style and measures 28" high by 26"wide X 21.5"deep. It weighs 24 pounds. All solid wood construction. There is a custom crating fee of $85 for shipping. Full insurance is included. This piece requires a rather large crate for shipping because the legs are permanently mortised in place and the crate must surround and completely protect the entire table. This fine piece was created in the mid 1960's at the peak of my Uncle's woodworking career. It will beautify your home for many decades and can be passed on for generations to come. It is solid wood and has been painted an espresso brown. This table/cabinet measures 18 3/4 inches square x 26 inches high. The interior storage measures 17 1/2 inches square x 8 3/4 inches high. The legs are solid wood with brass tips in the Danish Modern style. There are a couple areas on the cube top where veneer was added to cover an imperfections(see picture) Other than that. It is made from Tennessee cherry wood. The entire table is solid Cherry wood.The drawer slides in and out with ease and are dovetailed. There is a small finish break spot on the drawer(see pix) it does not go through to the wood. The tops appear to have been professionally refinished with a very good match in color and finish. MID CENTURY FRENCH LOUIS PROVINCIAL GILT WOOD COCKTAIL BAR LIQUOR CABINET TABLE
We are pleased to offer this RARE. Mid Century cocktail cabinet. This is a BEAUTIFUL accent piece in the French Provincial style. The cabinet is wood with a heavily, gilded/gold leaf finish(original) The cabinet is of very nice quality and is quite functional. The cabinet is ornately incised/carved. The front face has a large center acanthus and raised panel insignia. The side profiles of the cabinet feature a scalloped incision. The cabriole legs are adorned with very ornate acanthus leaves and flowers. The apron is scalloped, with the curved areas accomplished with small segments pieced together. The top of the cabinet is hinged at mid point. When you raise the front of the top, the upper panel of the front face opens and the liquor cabinet, glass holder, automatically lowers and the glass holders automatically slide forward. The shot glass/tumbler ... moreholders are a 2 tier design. The upper tier houses 5 large, high ball style" tumblers. The lower tier also houses 5 tumblers as well as 5 smaller"shot style" glasses. There is open space on each side of the glass holders for liquor bottles or seltzer. The interior is faced with a black laminate. The hinge mechanisms are very nice and they operate very smoothly. The hinges are brass with a unique mark. To close the cabinet, simply lift up on the front face and the cabinet closes smoothly and easily. The cabinet is extremely nice and exceptionally beautiful. The gilt/gold leaf finish is very rich in color and, in direct light, it almost shines. The cabinet is not marked, but the upper interior looks as if it housed a manufacturers sticker at one time. The cabinet is in very nice condition. There are some areas on the top where the gold leaf is worn as if the cabinet was used to display items on top. These are not too distracting and they can be resolved if you choose. There is also a small piece of veneer that is missing on the back side of the top. Again. It is not distracting. The color is a beautiful cinnamon orange. The chair is a unique size and made for the cabinet. It is larger than a child's chair, but a very petite"adult" chair. The entire piece has. At some point(not by us) been beautifully painted in a white, crackled finish. Gold paint has been used as an accent in the crevices of the wood patterns and as a background for the mermaid. The interior of the cabinet is red and I do not know if that was the original color or if the piece has been painted more than once. This is an elegant piece that, no doubt, graced the hallway or bedroom of a very upscale home as it is more elaborate than most of the phone cabinets of this period.
