In my opinion the wear just shows its age and makes it that much more beautiful. The marble is very heavy and not attached which makes it much easier to move around. We are pleased to offer this beautiful table. The table is vintage Maitland Smith with hand applied. Earlier signature. The table is a two piece unit as the tray top is removable. The base is wood with bamboo detail. It is finished in black lacquer with gold accents. The tray top is metal with fabulous scalloped edges. It is hand painted with a floral and urn centerpiece. It is further accented with gilded scrolls and lattice patterns. This is a superb table with an elegant and timeless charm. It is in very good vintage condition with some minor evidence of age and use. There are minor surface scratches(from cleaning cloths) on the top and a few, very minor paint chips. There is nothing severe or distracting. The table is signed but the original gold foil sticker is almost completely removed. This is a larger version(coffee/cocktail) of tray ... moretables. We are pleased to offer this EXQUISITELY BEAUTIFUL. Mid Century tray table. This stunning table is large and features a black lacquered bamboo base with 8"gate leg" design. The table top is beautifully painted with a Chinoiserie motif. There are birds, butterflies, lotus and chrysanthemums. The colors are striking with rich reds, blacks and gold as the predominant color palette. The table perimeter is raised; the painted section is lower than the table perimeter. The perimeter is finished in gold leaf with an antique glaze over the gold. The painting is quite interesting. Again, antiquing glaze has been applied over the painting and the brush strokes are present. This has given the painting great depth. The table is wood. It is similar to the Italian tole tables, but it is heavier in weight.
