The walnut base is also in overall very good original vintage condition. DIMENSIONS: 67.5" x 16.5" x 12.25 H_ HISTORY: Harvey Probber was born in Brooklyn in 1922. Mr. Probber sold his first design, for a sofa when he was 16; it brought $10. By the time he graduated from high school, he was commuting to Manhattan to sell his sketches to furniture manufacturers. He remained largely untrained on a formal basis, though he took evening classes in design at the Pratt Institute, learning furniture production during the day at a job with Trade Upholstery, a New York company. After service in the Coast Guard in the 1940's, Harvey Probber also introduced Americans to sectional, modular seating in the 1940's, when it became a furniture industry phenomenon, had in the last five years found a new appreciation among collectors of midcentury-modern furniture, especially for his upholstered pieces and cabinetry. Mr. Probber began a brief secondary career as a cabaret singer. Harvey Probber Inc. His furniture company, was established in 1945. It closed in 1986. This is a great looking set of 6 Harvey Probber dining chairs. The upholstery is pink. It has no rips or tears but there are some stains that may or may not clean out, the legs have wear appropriate to age and use. They measure approximately 37" tall to the back, 18" from the floor to the seat" 20" wide at the front, 17" wide at the back and if you set it up against a wall it's 25" deep. Chrome, Walnut and Glass Console Table Harvey Probber Style Mid Century Modern
Fine Items from ALittleUnlimited Description A beautiful and finely crafted mid century modern console table in the style of Harvey Probber- it looks like a Harvey Probber wall case mounted in a chrome frame with a glass top. But the table is unmarked with the exception of the hand written note on the inside of the drawer. It measures 29 1/2" tall. 38" long and it is 14" deep. The height of the space from the top of the walnut case to the upper chrome frame is 3 1/2" It is in fine vintage condition with normal signs of wear and use. I have not cleaned the chrome or polished the walnut case. There may be minor signs of wear and age to the chrome- but it appears to be in excellent condition and just in need of cleaning- I see no pitting or marring to it. The drawer slides nicely and the walnut case is in fine condition as ... morewell. It is finished on the back so this table can be used as a free standing piece of furniture with the back looking as beautiful as the front. The plate glass top is 5/8" thick and shows some scratching from use but is still in good usable condition. I am unable to ship the table but will co-operate with you if you need to ship the table. Vintage 1960's Harvey Probber Style Copper Accent Table Mid Century Modern
This is a beautiful circa 1960's glass top table in the Harvey Probber style. It is a copper clad laminated block with a portion that extends through the top. It is in excellent condition. The top looks mottled but it is the pattern of the metallic laminated material that is intentionally made to look like aged copper. There are no chips or cracks in the glass and minimal scratches. There is a strip of laminate missing on one side of the upper edge. Measures 30" in diameter and 16" glass height, The glass is an impressive 3/4" thick. Estates sale find. Maker is supposedly Harvey Prober- I found other tables with the same bottom style that were Prober's. I cannot guarantee. But it sure does have his design. All I know is the woman has had the table since around the 1960's. I did not see cracks in marble. But there is scratching- see pis 11& 12 for examples. There are more, but these would show up best in the pics. Measures about 37" x 14" This table is very heavy- so please be aware of this aspect. Shows age.
