Description Offered for sale is an S. Bent& Bros. Inc. Vintage Maple 48" Round Extension Table with Two 9" Leaves. This table was manufactured in Gardner. Massachussetts and I believe it to be circa 1970's. The table has a very thick solid maple top with a beautiful grain. It appears to have been refinished on the top because the finish is in excellent shape and only has a few slight scratches on the surface. The legs are turned and have a spoonfoot. The feet do have wear. Chips and scratches(see pics#9-12 for close-ups) The table measures 48" round and will extend to 48" x 66" when both leaves are used. You are looking at one fine piece of furniture. Part of JDI Collection* and purchased new by the current owner 25 years ago for a larger home than the bungalow* she now resides in. She paid just under a $1000.00 for it from an elite furniture store. The photos say it best. I have included with and without flash photos so you can see it the hues in different lights. To my eye it is a bit less red and a bit more golden(typical of fine oak) then either set of photos shows. Since the carved legs stand proud the base is larger than the top surface. The base is approximately 40" x 40" outside foot edge to outside foot edge) and the top is 36+" x 36+" Stands 17" off the floor. I have checked the web and a comparative is about $1200.00 today from JDI. Beware of lovely looking carved tables that are not the real thing. I found ... morea similar in appearance table that was selling for $400 to $600 dollars on line at 6 different web sites-read the review from a customer who paid several hundred dollars for it on line- Ball and Claw Coffee Table by Coaster We bought this because it looks great. It looks"heavy" it is actually made with pressed wood and synthetic materials. The legs won't even hold the screws tight. Bottom line. It"looks" great but is poorly made. NO PRESSED WOOD HERE! Look at the solid-thick-heavy oak legs. They are as tight to the frame as the day it was sold. This table is lifetime quality and may become a family heirloom. Outstanding vintage mid-century modern two-tiered end table made in the 1960's by Lane Furniture. This side or end table(no. 997-07) was made as part of the"Rhythm" collection. It is made from solid walnut. But has a lighter coloration, closer to teak. Clean, sleek modern lines were likely inspired by the Danish Modern movement. The underside of the table is stamped with serial numbers and the Lane mark. Overall, this table is in very good condition. Willett Solid Cherry Coffee Table and 2 Drop Leaf End Tables Here are some great solid cherry Willett coffee tables and a matching coffee table for your buying consideration. Recently picked the pieces up at an auction. Willett furniture was made in Louisville. KY. Started making furniture in 1934 and went out of business in 1962. The Willett brand is very popular with collectors. I would guess the tables are from the mid-50s to early 60s. The cherry wood just glows! Cleaned them up with Murphy's wood soap and orange oil and then applied Liquid Gold. Certainly some minor dings to the wood and some scratching from years of use. But still look great. The end table leaves has a wood slide pull that holds the leaves in the up position. They are all there. The leg and drawer hardware all match and appear appropriate to the furniture. Only ... morething is see to report is that one of the leaves has a small piece out of it where it hinges at the table. Finish was matched well at some point in the past and the issue just adds to the personality of the furniture. I am not a fan of new things or IKEA disposable furniture! The end tables have metal wheels and end caps on the legs. The coffee tables sets on its' legs. Never had rollers on it. I see no cracks, splits or repairs(other than leaf noted above) to report to you. The coffee table has a nice scalloped trim that comes up on 3 sides of the top of the table. The end tables are 27.5" tall. By 27-5/8" across, by 18.75" wide(36.25" wide with the leaves up) Sorry, other items that can be seen in the pics besides the coffee and end tables described here are not included. MID CENTURY DESK/TABLE - WENGE VENEER WITH SOLID EBONIZED OAK "X" FORM LEGS
A beautiful Wenge veneered top on a solid ebonized Oak"X Form" base and stretcher. All original parts and woods. There is no evidence of there ever having been any alteration or restoration. The top has some discoloration from the sun and a couple small areas(1" in diam. where the veneer is lifting creating a very slight rise in the veneer. The wenge has an"open grain" finish and the grain has some deeper/longer pores than in other places- if undesirable these can be easily filled. For a dealer you may want to restore this piece and there is little to do to make it perfect again. For the casual purchaser you can leave it as is and be happy. For the collector you could go either way. In the past I attributed this piece to a specific Scandinavian furniture designer from the 1950's and specifically to 1957 but for ... morethe life of me I can't put my brain on that name! Comes with 3 leaves that extend the table to over 100" inches. Measures 64.5" inches as shown in the pictures without the leaves. In good condition with some age related wear, a fantastic family table. In May of 1946 Carroll and Mary Henkel along with a close friend, John Harris, started a business building furniture in the basement of the Henkel home on Amherst St in Winchester, VA. The first piece was a corner cabinet, it was too big to come out of the basement in one piece, so they cut it in half, brought it out and glued it back together. It was taken to Washington D.C. and sold quickly. Soon, they moved their operations to a small ... morewarehouse next to the Henkel home. In the early 50s they moved to 660 North Loudoun Street in Winchester and their reputation for quality furniture spread rapidly. In 1954, John Harris sold his interest in the company to the Henkels. Henkel Harris employed 22 craftsmen at that time and their reputation for building quality furniture continued to spread. Carroll Henkel designed and built a new state of the art manufacturing facility in 1964 that became a model for the industry. This plant is still being used today, functioning smoothly with today's technological advances. Each piece of Henkel Harris furniture is still detailed and finished by the hands of a skilled craftsman.
