Period Construction by Jim Buchanan c. 1995 Item# 130011GQP30 This very attractive American Queen Anne style tea table is crafted in every way by period standards. Bench made by hand with little intervention of modern machinery by Jim Buchanan of Clarksville, Ohio. His label is still retained on the underside of the table, the hand noted"1995" presumably the date he completed the work or sold it to the prior owner. The condition remains simply exceptional, this piece clearly cared for lovingly and cherished with great care- only the most minor evidence of prior ownership is visible in the surface(detailed in the condition notes) of the gorgeous solid Cherrywood ... moreemployed in all primary parts. The underside of the table shows deep hand chiseling of the blocking and scrolling of the apron, left unfinished and in the rough, the same way we enjoy the exposed secondary surfaces of period furniture. On either side of the table, small candle surfaces pull out with brass knobs to reveal the solid cherry candle stands. The table terminates over expertly formed pad feet. For anyone passionate about the period. Looking for a table that is affordable while remaining true in every way to the period, this is an outstanding find indeed. We are pleased to offer this fabulous. Mid Century side table. The table is by Lane and is an AltaVista era piece. The table features 4 large, brass cylinder legs that hyper extend the top. The top is parquetry wood. The table has been artfully painted at some point. The design is a weathered American flag. The flag has been free hand painted as the stars are not quite uniform and not from a stencil. The flag has a translucent, white glaze over the red and blue which gives the piece a faded or weathered appearance. The paint has also been scraped in areas for further distressing. The table is very sturdy and heavy and it is in very good condition. The brass legs have an aged patina which is very nice. The table has great character. The is a large side table. This is a Paul Laszlo designed coffee table made in the early 50s for Brown Saltman. 46 inches across and 15 inches high. It has a wonderful bleached mahogany woodgrain inlay surface. There is some minor wear to this table and two small dings in the surface(see picture) It has not been refinished. This table would be a great fit for any Eames. Lane Coffee Table "The America Collection" -Museum of American Folk Art
I acquired this Lane coffee table awhile back from the second owner who did not take very good care it. I actually didn't know a lot about the company so I decided to do some research and decided this beautiful table deserved to be brought back to life. On the bottom is its original stamp stating: The America Collection Museum of American Folk-Art ADAPTATION BY Lane Serial no. 2192230 Style no. blank) From my research I believe that you read the serial number backwards so the production of this table would be March 22. 1991. This has not been verified though thats just my understanding from the research I did on the table. This collection was made from solid Pine. So I sanded the entire table down, everything but the top was done by hand because of the detailing and then stained a red oak. The stain may dry a little more and lighten up ... morea little bit. I will update the pics in a couple days to reflect the change. There were some larger dings that could only be smoothed out on one of the corners and one of the legs which are shown in the pictures. However I do think it gives the table a nice rustic appearance. Please let me know if you have any questions at all! Thank you so much for looking! ps. Very nice Mid Century table. Table features solid maple construction and Early American/Colonial style. It has a scalloped apron and spindled ledge. The wide single drawer features dovetail construction. The hardware is brass and is original. The drawer has a unique. Faux, newspaper or newsprint lining which is also original. The drawer section is raised in the center of the table with each side of the table having opened storage areas. The turned wood legs are set at an angle for further interest. The table does not have any marks or manufacturer's stickers. It is of very nice quality, very sturdy and heavy. It is very similar to Ethan Allen's"Baumritter" pieces of this same era.
