They are backstamped with the maker's name and numbered 813-8. The man stands 5&1/2" tall by about 6" wide and almost 4" deep and the woman is slightly smaller. Vintage Goldscheider Vintage Deco Woman's Bust
This is an art deco style lady's head/ bust with a blue dress. Ceramic, produced by the world famous Goldscheider family from Austria at their new Trenton, N.J. factory after leaving Austria in 1938. This vintage piece is in fine condition and a superb example of the craftsmanship of the period around 1938 and 1940, when, I feel this work was created. The early markings would so indicate this. Condition is excellent with the appropriate crazing showing the age of the ceramic and minor wear on the bottom rim and any additional minute wear would be normal with a vintage work of this caliber. Stamped on the bottom in the glaze is"American Goldscheider Corp. Incised on the bottom rim are numbers and possibly a letter appearing to me as: 662A2. For your consideration is a charming pair of porcelain figurines manufactured by the Goldscheider-Everlast Corp. According to kovels.com. The Goldscheider family left Vienna in 1938 and started a factory in Trenton, NJ in 1940 as"Goldscheider-U.S.A. In 1941, it became the'Goldscheider-Everlast Corporation. The lady figurine is in excellent condition. She measures nearly 9" tall and has no defects other than some light cracking of the paint enamel due to age. There are several marks on the bottom of this piece including the trademarks of Goldscheider-Everlast and the name of the piece. Rendezvous. The last one I found on the Kovels site was in 1996 and sold for $125. This figurine has four(4) marks from Goldscheider’s on the bottom. The figurine is stamped by Goldscheiger with Original written and arched above Goldscheider. Which is written arched above a big letter G and above the words Fine China. The second mark is Old Virgina by Peggy Porcher(her signature) The third mark is a red circle stamp with Goldscheider INC in it. The last stamp is two leafs or flowers(see photo) This beautiful glossy porcelain china figurine depicts ... morea beautiful woman in a pink antebellum period dress. With green fringe on the layers, and a floral bouquet design down the front below each fringe. She is standing with her hands holding out her dress at the sides as she greets someone. And is beginning to bow. She has her hair up and is holding a bouquet of flowers in her right hand. The figurine stands 9 inches tall and she is 6 and one half inches at the base. The title“Old Virginia is an interesting play on words since she is far from“old” But no doubt she is a very pretty Virginia woman straight out of“Ole Virginia” in the Southern antebellum period of days gone by. The figurine offered is in good(near mint) condition. She is fully intact with no chips, cracks or any signs of repairs. She has normal crazing on the shoulder area simply do to age. This piece has been in our family for many years. And more than likely was purchased through the Goldscheider factory in Trenton, NJ. This auction is for an important. Early Goldscheider Art Deco pottery wall mask. This piece has a chip to the very top of the head dress, please see the last photograph) This wall mask is marked; GOLDSCHEIDER MADE IN AUSTRIA. This mark was used before the Goldscheider factory left Vienna in 1938 to start factories in England and it also predates the opening of the New Jersey factory in 1940. The reverse of this piece is also impressed with correct factory numbers. This is one of the most beautifully decorated Goldscheider wall masks I have ever encountered.
