This is a gorgeous pair of large handpainted porcelain figural KPM sleighs! A boy and girl dressed in Royal clothing and both sleighs covered in apprlied porcelain flowers. Beautiful! They are heavy weighted porcelain and each measure approximately 8 inches high by 10 inches wide. Both have some chipping to the applied flowers and leaves and on the boy's sleigh. It looks like there is some yellowing and wear to the paint/glaze. Not readily noticed on display unless you are looking. Overall a gorgeous Victorian pair for the collector! It depicts a little boy with a bowl in his lap. Spoon in his right hand, and a bib. This was hand painted on the front. The back was not painted as was the custom at the time. This comes from a Pennsylvania estate that we purchased and have more going up for auction shortly. Very nice condition. All original. It is numbered 2734 on the back. Gorgeous Boy and Girl Figurines by Conta Boehme of Germany. Circa 1840 They both are dressed in white and pink clothing with floral accents. Conta Boehme shield mark to base and what looks like the numbers 1441 on each and a 0. They are in excellent condition the only thing I can see is a firing crack to the left side of her dress. Quite heavy and great quality pieces. Approximately 6 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide at the base. They could also use a good cleaning. I will leave that to their new owner. VTG GERMAN BISQUE PORCELAIN FIGURINE STATUES EUROPEAN ADMIRAL BOY GIRL MILITARY
You are bidding on: A GORGEOUS ANTIQUE PAIR OF TALL BISQUE PORCELAIN HAND-PAINTED STATUES FEATURING A YOUNG COUPLE IN ROYAL DRESS AND BICORNE HATS. Here's a BEAUTIFUL find from an estate purchase- I acquired these several years back. And am only just now finding it time to part with them. This pair is just. Well. stunning. No other word for it. They stand about 13.5 inches tall, big enough to make a great display statement, and the colors and paint are dreamtastic! Young man is holding a small french horn in one hand and a letter in the other; young lady appears to be reading a letter just received. Both are wonderfully outfitted in period regalia. With pastel mauves and blues and gilt/gold trim, both wearing the very fashionable bicorner European hats often seen in military parades. There are no date or manufacture stamps on these figures, ... morebut experience and research tell me they are European in origin, probably German, and most likely date to the mid to early 20th century. Both have some faint pencil marks in the recessed areas of the bottoms, looks like initials and perhaps a date but too hard to read and I have no idea if that would be the mark of the original artist or a previous owner. Please know that I am extremely tough in grading my pottery. Porcelain and glassware: I've been collecting. Selling and trading antique items for over 30 years, so I know that the only perfect piece is one that just left the factory. And even then it probably has some original-manufacture flaws. I tend to call out flaws that other sellers might not notice or conveniently overlook, so when I tell you it's right, it's right. I want everybody happy. That being said. Here's what I'd note to condition: Both figures could use some light cleaning from experienced hands. They show some age in the recesses, and there are a few little"age spots" present, notably on the female's right arm area; if you are experienced with fine antique bisque you will know what I'm referring to. This is a beautiful high quality vase which has a Piano Baby Boy Doll figurine attached to the front of a basket. He is holding a bouquet of porcelain flowers in his hand and there are also porcelain flowers on each side of the front of the basket. Unmarked except for an inscribed 13 on the base. But from the quality of this piece I believe him to be French or German made. Approximately 5 1/4 inches tall. 3 1/2 inches wide, and 4 3/4 inches deep. In excellent condition the only problem I could find is a small chip to the very edge of the corner on the top right side of the basket. And his right pinky finger is also chipped. There is G on the bottom that has two arrows through then DEP. I took a picture of the bottom as well. When researching these after getting them from my husbands grandmother. I have found that marking to be from Grafenthal and he only used that marking in two years, 1879 and 1886. I believe this pair of figurines are German porcelain Volkstedt Dresden unmarked. The craftsmanship is so remarkable! If you look closely you can see the separation of the fingers on their hands; their eyes are painted with precision and their clothing is loaded with detail even in the tiny flowers on the boy's vest. This kind of craftsmanship isn't something you will see in your everyday porcelain figurine. I purchased this set of figurines in Tucson. Az in 1992. when I was helping with an estate sale for the home of one of the Hewlett Packard family members. They were originally a pair of lamps but I chose to keep them as figurines. The girl figure measures 8 1/4" high. 4" wide. The boy figure measures 9" high, 4 1/2" wide. The condition is very good to excellent. No cracks. Chips. All the fingers are intact ... moreas are the cluster of roses on the front of the bases. The only real wear is in the lace on the girl. It has darkened over the years and some of it has come away from the figure. None of it is missing. The number 6154 appears on the bottom of each base. I have done some research on base markings,but can't find a definitive answer as to who the producer was. Some say G& H of Germany,but, I although marking on base is stamped H& G Co.I can't match up the markings to those used by G& H. If anyone has proof of the originate of these marking,I would appreciate knowing. The lines of the" H" on base appear to be swords,and,that is what makes me question the mark as G& H. This is a darling pair of antique German porcelain figurines produced by Conta& Boehme. Makers marks under bases. The boy has repair around the shoulders with old glue residue, and a hairline on his arm(this does not t go all the way around the arm) The girl is missing the flower that she held in her hand, and a piece of her hand was lost with it, please see close up photos. It is not marked, as to the company, but does have a handwritten number on the bottom of one foot that reads" 52" see photo) This lovely figurine is a little boy pushing a wheel barrow and the front wheel actually turns. It measures approximately 7 1/2" long x 6" high x 3 1/2" wide. Unfortunately, there are many repairs that were made to this figure. One of his legs was reattached, one handle on the wheelbarrow was repaired in two places, the handle at the front wheel was reattached, one arm was reattached at the elbow, and the tip of the wheelbarrow has a chip(see photo) Despite the flaws, this piece still displays beautifully and they are not ... morenoticeable unless you are up close.
