All ORIGINAL- LANE Walnut and Ash Dovetailed top end table. My grandmother purchased this new in 1966. She gave it to my mother. And she gave it to me in 1974.I was 5 years old. I have had this piece my entire life; it has seen so many beautiful days and truly was with me throughout my entire childhood and adulthood today. It is all original with a long history of character in the form of scratches. These are all surface scratches with no damage to the wood. We are pleased to offer this beautiful. Rare design, Mid Century side table or nightstand. The table was manufactured by the Lane Furniture Company and dates(according to the serial number) to 1969. The table features French styling with a clover leaf top and raised, three section fleur de lis pattern. The table has curved, triangular stepped base. The three table legs are substantially thick and scrolled. The scrolled design is raised on the outer borders for interest. The lavishly designed table top is a very heavy composite, faux stone. It has a rough, stone texture with the fleur de lis patterns smoothed and slightly raised from the roughly textured sections. The table top border is also smooth and somewhat raised. The clover leaf design is repeated on the inner corners of the border. The pattern is in a brown, polished stone design with ... morebeautiful, subtle gold flecks. The table is painted in white, slightly distressed, with gold glazing on the legs and upper base borders. The gold glaze has been white washed in areas giving depth to the finish. This is a beautiful table. It is in very good condition with only minor signs of age/use. Excellent midcentury Lane coffee table fold up surfboard vintage danish modern
With sides down it measures about 44x23" and with the side leaves up it becomes more of a surfboard shape and 5 feet long. This is a really nice table in excellent condition. You will need to pick this up in Platteville WI or make arrangements with a shipper. I can hold it for 2 weeks after the sale. The table's inlaid, two-tone top provides an intesting contrast of wood grains and tones(the table is primarily walnut(top veneer) with inlays(the long, horizontal stripes and small bowties are inlays- they look to be dark oak) Oak legs and stretchers provide ample structural support. Lane Style No. 0921-05; Serial No. 953160(I think this represents it's manufacture date: 06/13/59) Condition: One mention-worthy flaw(photos-there are several of the same flaw) a corner gash. But. I think, it's minimally visible from all but one short side. And note the ... morephotos are extreme close-ups; compare to the overall photos-from any normal distance, on the top it just appears as a small corner veneer chip. Otherwise. For it's age, nice vintage condition with age-appropriate imperfections(superifical nicks. The table that is also a cabinet(record) measures 28" square across the top. They both measure 19-1/2" tall They are both stamped Alta Vista VA The table with drawer has the following markings; design patent# 185371, serial# 360311, style# 90D 92 There is no damage noted on this piece other than some minor surface staining. The table cabinet has following markings; design patent# 185371, style# 900 95, serial# 56808C. There is no damage noted to this piece. No cracks or buckling to wood. Structurally the legs are tight and the table does not wobble. The cross stretchers are nicely through tenoned. The inlay design to the top is unusual.
