Antique Turned Leg Ottoman Footstool Stool Woven Seat Hand Made Spindle Ball
For your consideration. A wonderful, antique footstool or ottoman. This footstool measures 12" wide by 13" long by 11" tall. This little stool has hand turned legs. You can see the marks that the saw left in the wood; please see photos. Each leg is heavily turned with 5 balls on each leg, plus the ball foot. There is an unusual amount of detail for such a simple small piece. The top of each spindle leg has a circle on top of a larger circle carved into the top. These make up the corners that are visible from the top of the stool. The seat is a simple woven raffia or rush, although I doubt that it is original, as it appears to have been added to, although I cannot be certain. The wood was stained dark, but age and wear has caused a beautiful figural grain to show through in places. Condition: This stool is in great antique condition. ... moreOne stretcher for the seat is broken; please see photo. As the seat needs restoration, repairing or replacing the stretcher would be in order. Otherwise the wood is in excellent shape without any cracks or splits or chips. This stool would be just gorgeous restored to its former beauty. However, I have had this in my house for years, with an antique oak staved bucket on top of it that held umbrellas. The condition looked good in a shabby chic early American way. This is a very elegant well made little piece. Bid with confidence. My packing is excellent at no cost to the buyer. Here's a beautiful early 1900s mahogany smoking stand. That had been exquisitely painted green, then black and over the years has become quite charming to look at. Nice spindle legs. Vintage 6" Tall x 3 1/2" Wide Chromed Three Leg Desk Top Paper Spindle Or Holder When almost all business transactins were done on paper. This was a common desktop acessory. You simply"stabbed" the paper over the sharpened vertical shaft to hold the papers in place. This one is made of chromed wire with a circular base sitting on 3 raised feet covered with a plastic end piece. It is not marked in any way, but I have described it as vintage since it has been a long time since paperwork was saved using this method. Condition: I see no rust. This auction is for one handsome solid quartersawn oak spindle-leg fern stand. It is at least 30 to 50 years old. Possibly older, and beautifully made by an unidentified wood craftsman. The table surface has a lovely curvy edge. Below the top, there is a sort of"skirt" with a stylized fleur-de-lis(lily) symbol in open-work on all four sides. The slim, graceful legs are lovely and stable. Dimensions: Height is approximately 35-1/2 inches tall. The table measures 10 inches across at the center. Nice solid antique table. I believe is Mahogany wood. I believe it dates from 1920-1950. Very unique thick, chunky spindle legs. Some splits in the legs but does not affect the sturdiness of the table. Doesn't have the leaf to extend it. Beautiful carvings around the edge, some small pieces of veneer missing from the top but is not noticeable. Starting the bidding out low for this gorgeous table but have no reserve on it.
