3 Mid Century Vintage Danish Made in Denmark Solid Rosewood Stacking Tables
This auction is for a set of 3 Vintage Solid Rosewood Danish Stacking Tables. The largest one measures approx. 23 3/4" by 14 7/8" and stands approx. 19" high. The middle one is approx. 20 3/8" by 13 1/2" and stands 18" high. The smallest is approx. 17" by 11 1/16" and is approx. 17" high. They have sturdy legs and there are no splits. Cracks, shrunken seams or repairs. The surfaces are very good but do show minor signs of age and wear. I have not applied any oil or other enhancements to them in any way. They are as originally found and for their age I would say they are quite good. The only mark is an impressed stamp, Made in Denmark, see photos. A beautiful Wenge veneered top on a solid ebonized Oak"X Form" base and stretcher. All original parts and woods. There is no evidence of there ever having been any alteration or restoration. The top has some discoloration from the sun and a couple small areas(1" in diam. where the veneer is lifting creating a very slight rise in the veneer. The wenge has an"open grain" finish and the grain has some deeper/longer pores than in other places- if undesirable these can be easily filled. Up for auction is a mid-century solid wood end table in great condition. My grandmother purchased this piece in the early 1950's in California and it appears to be oak to me but I am not certain. It is solid wood. Just not sure of wood species. It is mid-century furniture with a traditional/American Colonial style. It is a high quality piece of furniture with dovetail drawers and solid construction. The dimensions are: 20.5"w x 26"d x 24"h. For sale are two matching LANE End Tables. These are either Oak or Walnut. Unsure. They are very solidly built. Very stable. The LANE stamp underneath the tables for'style' is: 1108 18. The Serial numbers are: 2767160 and 2967020. though a pair of'matching' tables they are of course Lane creations which means no tow items are alike. Very subtle differences in the color of the wood. These are beautiful and like Lane furniture in general must be seen in person to fully appreciate. CONDITION: One of the tables appears to have received more use than it's counterpart. It's corners have some dings(see photos) The veneers on the corners will need some attention. But nothing too drastic. The one corner is worse than the remaining three on that table. Conversely, the other table has no damage to it's corners at all. The table features an unusual tapered design that allows it to fit between two chairs that are angled together. Creating a perfect conversational grouping. The table measures 28 inches wide at the front, tapering gracefully to 20 inches wide at the back; overall depth is 30 inches and height is 20 inches. Purchased new in the mid-50s, the table features interesting carved, curved wood details on the legs and is finished in a medium cherry stain.
