It does have an awesome oak veneer sheet over the actual fluted wood but it does have some chipped off pieces as shown in the pictures. I am not sure what type of wood is underneath or on the feet. It is a unique and beautiful piece. I was also told it was from the early 1900's or possibly older. It measures 45-1/2" tall x 20" x 16" at the base/feet and the fluted round piece measures 5-3/4" in diameter outside and 4" in diameter inside. I have provided several photo's to view and consider them to be as part of the description. Please view and study them carefully and read the description. Beautiful Mid Century table. The table is iron with a gilded/gold leaf finish. A blackened glaze has been applied over the leaf during the manufacturing process for an aged character. This is done over a red bole base which gives the gold leaf a very rich color. The table legs are quite striking and are Empire style. The table is pictured with the original smoke glass top but it is chipped around the edges and the glass is scratched from years of use. We are NOT including the glass as it is easily replaced. There is a removable wood and cane shelf on the lower tier. The feet retain their original rubber"boots" for floor protection. The table is not marked but it is of very nice quality. It is in very good condition with some minor gold leaf loss. This is not severe or distracting and can be resolved. The table measures 28.75" ... morelong. It is 20.75" wide and 15.75" tall. It features several types of wood combined to form a gorgeous piece of furniture. If you are looking for a stunning antique half moon table. Look not further! The primary wood used to create this stunning table is walnut. Burled walnut was used on the top and apron which provides an interesting grain to this antique half moon table. Satinwood string inlays adorn ... morethe legs and gently curve around the top as well. A rosewood band can be found at the very bottom of the apron. On top is a large Georgian style satinwood fan inlay and satinwood ovals were inlaid at the top of each leg. Each element combines to give the table a toned-down Empire style feel. Overall condition of this table is excellent. The finish has been well kept and the wood looks great. We would like to point out that there are some small veins in the burled walnut veneer on the top. We have included a picture. These are in the wood and were finished over into the piece.
