This fine victorian bread plate c.1870 is inscribed with"give us this day our daily bread" and has a large horseshoe with clover in the middle of the dish and wonderful horseshoe and anchor handles. I have seen that Westmorland makes a plate in the same design in milk glass. I think that it may be leaded glass. Please make sure you look at the details in the photos and judge for yourself. Here is a beautiful egg and dart plate manufactured in 1889. This child's plate depicts the nursery rhyme"Little Miss Muffet" Which is the following rhyme: Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet. Eatting her curds and whey. Along came a spider and sat down beside her, and frightened Miss Muffet away. What is interesting is that the nursery rhyme is based on an individual named Patience Muffet who lived during the late 1500s. Her father was a famous entomologist who wrote the first scientific catalog on English insects. This is a c.1900 era chromolithograph print. Framed under painted glass and used as a stove pipe cover/ decorative wall hanging in late Victorian and early Edwardian era. The print depicts a soft pastel tone image of an early nineteenth century style couple with the mother in Empire dress looking lovingly at her newborn baby and with her husband looking on in admiration at his wife. It is the epitome of Victorian family sentiment and the Cult of Motherhood philosophy of the 1935 to 1905 era. The print is under a round piece of glass that has gold paint on the reverse with a nice black border framing the print. The piece has a cardboard backing. I can't describe this piece any other way than just plain pretty! Ever so feminine. Soft pink roses, with multi colored green stems.hand painted beautifully! I'm calling this a bowl. But it actually looks like an un punched old milk glass light fixture. The diameter of the bowl itself is 12" and it has a depth of 2" The front is enclosed in glass for a stunning dimensional appearance and mounted in a gesso frame. Including the frame. The diameter is 14" There is no damage to the the bowl and no paint loss on the bowl. From all appearances. It's been enclosed for many, many years. The colors are still soft with no signs of fading. The gesso frame has one small about an eighth inch of damage. But because it is so intricate, it is only found with very close inspection. Victorian serving dish circa late 1800s has a horseshoe with clover in the middle of the dish and six-sided column handles. The pressed glass is clear and sharp. It has one small chip on one of the column handles. It measures approx. 9" long x 5" wide. From grandmother-in-laws estate.
