It is 82" long and ... more39" high to the center at the back. This sofa is ornate with hand crafted hard wood decor about 2" thick in dark brown color of the grape and leaf patterns. The cushion is about 4" at highest point. 58" long without arm, and 20" deep. It is an original tanned upholstery with the small mauve flower pattern. It is decorated with some fabric buttons on the cushion. The cushion is very firm. There are 3 light water stains on the cushion sitting area as shown in the pictures. There is a small worn area on the fabric of the left arm. No major damage on the cushion. The cushion is 5" high from the floor. It has the brass rivets stitched along the cushion all the way around the front. The arm is 24 1/2" high from the floor. Each arm of the sofa has embossed hand crafted grape leaf design. There is a wooden surface damage on the top right arm. The stitching at the back along the left arm has come detached about 2" The legs are very stunning with the hand carvings on wood about 2 3/4" thick. The end of the legs have brass wheels about 1" diameter. There is a tear at the back on right foot area of the upholstery about 2" but it is not noticeable. The back felt cover is purple/ blue, it is faded. There are rusty nails holding back cover, that is partially torn off. The bottom of the couch covered with the fabric, it is old, has no tears. All the tears mentioned can be fixed. All is in great shape. This piece is really classic antique look, was kept well by our grandmother circa 1800's. Sold as is. Local pick-up only. SOME OF THEM ARE NOT TOO SECURELY ATTACHED. THEY ARE HANGING BY WIRES ON THE FRAME AND THE LOOPS JUST NEED TO BE CLOSED MORE TIGHTLY FOR SECURITY. My understanding is that what was called'milk glass' in the Victorian era is not the very white, heavy 20th C American milk glass. The decoration features hawthorn flowers, shaded blue as though late afternoon, with spring foliage that mixes last year's brown leaves, pine needles& new spring leaves. Here is a beautiful egg and dart plate manufactured in 1889. This child's plate depicts the nursery rhyme"Little Miss Muffet" Which is the following rhyme: Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet. Eatting her curds and whey. Along came a spider and sat down beside her, and frightened Miss Muffet away. What is interesting is that the nursery rhyme is based on an individual named Patience Muffet who lived during the late 1500s. Her father was a famous entomologist who wrote the first scientific catalog on English insects. Apparently poor little Patience Muffet was eatting her curds and whey one morning when one of her father's spiders frightened her and she ran away. That event made her famous through time! This is a c.1900 era chromolithograph print. Framed under painted glass and used as a stove pipe cover/ decorative wall hanging in late Victorian and early Edwardian era. The print depicts a soft pastel tone image of an early nineteenth century style couple with the mother in Empire dress looking lovingly at her newborn baby and with her husband looking on in admiration at his wife. It is the epitome of Victorian family sentiment and the Cult of Motherhood philosophy of the 1935 to 1905 era. The print is under a round piece of glass that has gold paint on the reverse with a nice black border framing the print. The piece has a cardboard backing. I can't describe this piece any other way than just plain pretty! Ever so feminine. Soft pink roses, with multi colored green stems.hand painted beautifully! I'm calling this a bowl. But it actually looks like an un punched old milk glass light fixture. The diameter of the bowl itself is 12" and it has a depth of 2" The front is enclosed in glass for a stunning dimensional appearance and mounted in a gesso frame. Including the frame. The diameter is 14" There is no damage to the the bowl and no paint loss on the bowl. From all appearances. It's been enclosed for many, many years. The colors are still soft with no signs of fading. The gesso frame has one small about an eighth inch of damage. But because it is so intricate, it is only found with very close inspection. This 6 3/4” tall antique hand-painted milk glass cake pedestal with a 10 1/4” top diameter and a 5 1/8” base diameter is in good antique condition with the exceptions of light rubs on the base edge and plate underside. An occasional manufacturing straw mark, scattered light paint wear, and extremely light scratches on the plate top. DEPICTS A EDWARDIAN OR VICTORIAN CHILD IN THE WOODS WITH A RED HEADED BIRD. INTRICATE HAND PAINTED GOLD BORDER AROUND THE EDGES. THE MERIDAN BRONZE FRAME IS VERY ORNATE WITH GRIFFINS.
