Finish is hand painted bisque with gilded shoes and arm bands. Her multi level ruffled skirt is glazed. Gracefull lines and a beautiful face. Bottom is marked SCHAUBACH KUNST in dark green. Under 2 crossed swords an"E" the number1318/o. On left side a S and a B and a gold color number or letters I can't read. This pre-owned figurine is in very nice condition with no chips. Cracks or signs of restoration that I could find when examining it. It features a ballerina dancer putting on her slippers. Her arms. Legs, neckline, face and hair have a matte finish and her dress has a gloss finish. Free of any chips or cracks. Measures 10" inches to raised arm and 9 3/4" inches wide from arm to out stretched leg. I dont know what year it was made. A favorite in my own personal collection. In the year 1761 Johann Wolfgang Hamann from the city of Katzhütte applied for a porcelain production license in Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt but only three days earlier an exclusive license had been issued for Heinrich Macheleid from Sitzendorf and so the application by Hamann was turned down. Through experimentation a year later he was able to produce his own formula hard paste porcelain at his home in Katzhütte. After initial inquiries to the duke of Sachsen-Coburg they bought the'Freiherr von Hohenthal' manor including the surrounding woods on November 30th 1763. The license was granted and personally signed by duke Franz Josias of Sachsen-Coburg on March 30th 1764. From 1772 onwards the factory was run only by the Hamann family which then added small numbers of porcelain figures to the product range before Johann Wolfgang ... moreHamann retired in 1776 and his son Ferdinand Friedrich Hamann took over. Ferdinand Friedrich Hamann died in 1786 and the business was run by his wife Anna Margaretha Hamann. First, and then later by their son. At some time before his death Ferdinand’ son had leased the factory to Friedrich Christian Hutschenreuther and his partner Hermann Kieser in the year 1829. When Hamann died in 1833. Kieser left the company and the remaining Hamann family members decided to sell the factory. Hutschenreuther had already found two other business partners that wanted to join him and so together with Friedrich Kämpfe and Gabriel Heubach he founded a new company that took over the factory. In 188 7 Friedrich Christian Hutschenreuther retired and Kämpfe and Heubach were joined by a new partner: Sontag. Only 10 years later. Sontag left in 1897 and Kämpfe and Heubach again focused on producing figurines growing the workforce to around 150 people in 1913. This Schaubach Kunst porcelain Olympian is in great condition! Her only flaws are a few scratch marks on her body and some imperfections on her base. The scratches are on the back of her head. Under her left arm, back of her right wrist, below her right knee and at the bottom of her left calf. I don't know if these can be cleaned or removed.I'm not going to try! It sounds like there are a lot. But you really have to look closely to see them. The base has some bumps on it that look like extra porcelain. But they are not glazed. No chips. Cracks, visible repairs or crazing. Her fingertips are in perfect condition. The base has gold painted around it. She is a gem for such a vintage and delicate figurine first created in the 1930s. Description: This auction is for one hand painted figurine of a ballerina that is both matte and gloss finish by Schaubach Kunst of Wallendorf. Germany that was painted between 1953-1958. The figurine measures 8" tall by 8" long by 6 1/2" wide and is in very good estate condition with the only imperfections being the repair on the leg that has been photographed. The repair is done well but the adhesive used to repair it has discolored. There is also some mild gold leaf wear on the ballerina shoes that have also been photographed.
