This is a wonderful early Victorian fairing created by the Conta& Boehme factory of Germany. It is captioned"The Spoils of War" and shows a little baby crying with a puppy who just took her dolly! It measures 5 inches across by 3 1/4 inches high and displays nicely however part of the fence is broken in the back and either the little part in the dog's mouth is broken or it was created this way. Antique Conta & Boehme Porcelain Fairing The Last In Bed To Put Out the Light
Up for bid and just in time for Valentine's Day. This delightful antique porcelain fairing depicting a couple getting into bed. It reads, The last in bed to put out the light" Though I'm not an expert, I'm guessing this is by Conta& Boehme. It stands approx. over 2 3/4 inches tall, about 3 inches long and about 2.25 across. It does have some condition issues. There is a chip on the front top center, some chips on very bottom base of back of piece, on man's top of leg, crack line mark, you can feel it but it doesn't affect piece. Perhaps it just where surface porcelain came off, I don't know. At the bottom of the bed there is something like a table on the other side. Antique German Porcelain Conta Boehme Boy & Girl Figurine Fairing Figures
Gorgeous Boy and Girl Figurines by Conta Boehme of Germany. Circa 1840 They both are dressed in white and pink clothing with floral accents. Conta Boehme shield mark to base and what looks like the numbers 1441 on each and a 0. They are in excellent condition the only thing I can see is a firing crack to the left side of her dress. Quite heavy and great quality pieces. Approximately 6 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide at the base. They could also use a good cleaning. I will leave that to their new owner. This amazing German Bisque Fairing measures about 2" tall x 2-1/8 wide. And about 1-1/2" deep. it actually rocks when you push on the ear or man. Its paint is quite worn as can be sen in the pictures. This is one of the neatest pieces of bisque i have ever come across. There is a thin are to the bisque below their legs which is quite fragile, but seems in fine condition.

Made in Germany during the mid-to-late 19th century, most likely by Conta& Boehme. There is an impressed number"2851" on the underside with a couple of other number markings. The base measures approximately 3 x 3.5 inches(7 x 8.5 cm) Stands at almost 3.5 inches(8.5 cm) tall. The weight is nice and heavy at about 12.4 ounces. Although this is a very common fairing, this is a very good, old example. Good Antique Condition: No chips or cracks. The candle is intact on this piece(these were very often deliberately broken off during the Victorian period) But I am not sure if it has had a repair or not. This listing is for a very unusual and most likely German or Japan reproduction of an earlier 19th century Staffordshire porcelain"Fairing" figurine entitled"The last in bed to put out the light" with two possibly children in white hooded gowns. Climbing into bed. One looking back at the candle at the foot of the bed that needs to be put out. China fairings are so named because they were given away as prizes at fairs in the Victorian era. Although some were manufactured simply for sale. They first started appearing in the middle of the nineteenth century and remained popular until the start of the First World War. Most fairings were manufactured in Germany by Conta and Boehme. This company developed a mass production method that no other company could match. Thereby achieving an advantage over ... moreother firms. The fairings were generally Victorian era prizes given at fairs thus the name. They were made in Germany and England. The fairing that is most often seen is the German made Conte Boehme one with the caption: The last in bed to put out the light. It depicts a couple getting into bed. With a candle in a candleholder at the end of the bed. Because it was considered lucky to snap the end of the candle when the victorious player had been presented with the fairing as his or her spoils at the funfair, it is often found with damage, ie the candle flame snapped off. This piece is in truly mint condition. I think it may be a repro as I have read that the two pencil sized holes on bottom indicate a newer version of the antique. Also looking at the face there is rather crudely painted features. I don't believe the 19th century piece would have that rough features. Repros of fairings were made in Germany once again, after initially not being produced during the war. Very RARE 19thc Antique German Porcelain Fairing Figurine Figure Continental
For auction I believe this to be a very rare 19thc German porcelain fairing. In all my years of antiquing I have never seen this particular model. I looked in my books. Including Victorian China Fairings, The Collectors Guide, by Derek H. Jordan and I do not see it listed anywhere. It is a very finely painted fairing. Better in quality than the majority you see besides the Vienna series. It has tiny fine painted detailing and there is gold gilt thoughout. The caption on the bottom is written in German and says something about the boys keeping their hats on. Amazing that it is also in excellent condition. I looked it over several times. Very little wear to any painting and the only chip I might feel is a teeny nick on the top of the man's walking stick. I looked it over several times before seeing that. It measures approximately 4 1/2 ... moreinches high by 3 3/4 inches wide and it is very faint but there is something on the bottom impressed. I cannot make it out and tried several times. Rare Victorian Porcelain Fairing with inscription of"Three O'Clock in the Morning" painted in gold. Very good condition. These porcelain china fairings were given away as prizes at traveling fairs. This auction is for a pair of wonderful early figures of sleeping babies. They date mid to late 1800s and each measures approximately 4 1/4 inches long by 2 1/2 inches high by 2 3/4 inches deep. One has a foot broken off and ther eare some breaks to flowers in the basket. The other is in very good condition with only some small chips to the leaves in the basket. Both display very well. VERY RARE Antique German Porcelain Fairing Figurine Figure French Military Group
This is what I believe to be an extremely rare miniature hand painted porcelain Victorian fairing from the mid to late 1800s. I have looked in my fairing collector's books and cannot find this model. It is extremely well detailed for a fairing and depicts a soldier sitting across the table from a couple with a dog at his feet. There appears to only be some wear to the gold gilt. No breaks or repairs. It is European and the caption as well. I believe the last word is"Attack" however I cannot make out the first word, if someone knows, please let me know. It is very small scale measuring just under 2 1/2 inches high by 2 5/8 inches wide by 2 3/8 inches deep. This antique porcelain fairing is most likely from the victorian era in which they were prizes given at fairs. This is most likely from between 1800- 1849 due to the 4 didgit# located on the base and no shield and dagger mark. It is at least likely during the 19th century. The fairing is very good condition. Most of the detail is still there but there is some wear. There is no visible damage. The caption is"The last in bed to put out the light" The#s on the base is 2851 and#57 aswell as a written 134. It measures 3" high by 3 1/4" long and 2" wide. I have taken photos of several sides and angles. Please view them as they often speak for themselves. There is a note taped to the base where someone had indicated this is a rare size but Im not an expert and cannot validate that statement.
