The top is nice& smooth although there's 3 tiny little'pits' size of the point on a tooth pick. It looks great without any of these fixes, I am just trying to be as detailed as possible so there are no surprises when it arrives at your door. Please carefully look at pictures as they will'describe' it's condition better than my words can. The only'hardware' is drawer pulls& they look original. Everything else is wood. I don't see where any nails were used at all. As far as history on this all I can tell you is I purchased it from a gentleman that said his mother had bought this at an antique store in the mid west back in the 70's. After researching the internet& from what he told me It's most likely from the 1940 to the 50's. Again that's just a guess. I couldn't really find another one like it. The inside drawer measurment is 28-3/8" X 25" This chest has some deep scratches across the top& the RH side panel is an added piece of particle board because it had been mounted against something else at one time. The left side still has its original side panel. I do not have any pics of that side because its sitting against the wall& I cant move it right now to get the pics. The chest could stand to be refinished primarily because of the deep scratches on the top& discoloration on the legs. Outside of the deep scratched in the top& the added side& normal wear. This set has been in my family since it was purchased. Although I'm unsure of the year of purchase. Actually, it has been in the same house since its purchase as well. I'm not sure of the exact style, but the wood tone and grain is beautiful, as well as the areas of inlay. As you can see in one of the photos, one of the drawer pulls has been repaired. Antique Chinese Wood and Ivory Jewelry Chest Box Three Drawers and Lock
My mother bought this box from an antique dealer roughly 50-70 years ago. There is no writing or identification of any sort inside or outside the box. I don't know the actual age but it resembles other 19th Century jewelry boxes. I don't know whether or not the inlays are real ivory. If you purchase the box and an expert says they're plastic. I'll refund your purchase price plus shipping as long as the jewelry box comes back exactly as shipped, i.e. no pin holes in the inlays. I'm no expert so I'll describe the box as best I can. Dimensions: 5 1/2 inches wide. 6 7/8 inches tall, 4 3/8 inches deep I think I can see growth rings in the inlays under a loupe. The surface seems smooth to the touch but shows very tiny grooves. The color is a consistent off-white with no evidence of false patina. I looked at the box under ... morean ultraviolet bulb and I think the inlays are slightly fluorescent. The carvings have several minor inconsistencies in the symmetry. They're not noticeable unless you're looking for them. The wood is reddish(rosewood? with a very visible grain and varnished(lacquered? all over. It's almost flawless. The drawers open easily and are lined with smooth fabric(silk? which is still in excellent condition. The odor is mild and pleasant. One drawer has a place for rings. The box comes with a brass. Two piece lock with I-beam key. It looks like one could open it easily with a paper clip but is deceptively difficult.

Item for Sale: Antique 1860's Red Lacquer Chinese Chest Here is a charming small antique Chinese chest in lacquer red. Made of sturdy thick pieces of wood that are joined in mortise and tenon joints. It makes a great accent piece, small enough to be placed on another piece of furniture to use as a jewelry box or storage box. It is heavy, 12 lbs. and measures 13 and 1/2 inches tall by 13 inches wide and 9 inches deep. The top part has the drawer, which can be completely removed(please see photos) There is a hidden section below the drawer only accessible once the drawer has been pulled out, but that is of sufficient size for storage of small items. This is a genuine antique, with the red wax stamp of authenticity on the back. It has a lot of character and would compliment any Asian decor. Antique marquetry spice cabinet Wood inlay 8 inch chest of drawers jewellery box
An old inlaid miniature cabinet. I am not sure whether it was made for a specific purpose. Such as a jewellery box or a spice cabinet. It has certainly been used as a spice cabinet- two of the drawers still have a faint aroma of tea. 6 drawers. Two of them covered by a sliding"door" White knob handles. There is inlaid marquetry decoration. With geometric patterns, on the fronts of the four"exposed" drawers, and in a central panel on the sliding door. I am not sure when or where this cabinet was made. But it is certainly not recent, and I would think probably in the early part of the 20th century. Condition: Basically good condition. But not perfect. It was made for practical use as well as ornament. And it has clearly been used. It has some scratches and scuffs. And some minor damage. All 6 drawers work and are basically ... moreintact. But there are minor splits in the bases of 2 small drawers, and the long drawer at the bottom(the one with the initials on the base) has more damage, as shown. The sliding"door" that covers the top 2 right-hand drawers has clearly been repaired in the past. And is a bit loose. The inlaid panel is warped, and the frame surrounding this panel has been glued together messily. It really needs to be taken apart and mended properly. It sits well in place when the cabinet is on a flat surface, but if the cabinet is tilted forward, it falls out. There are some small chips in the drawer handles. The back panel is split just above the base. One of the wooden"shelves" dividing the drawers is loose on one side. Please look at all the pictures- the damaged parts are shown clearly in the last few pictures. Up for auction is an antique Walnut hall chest dresser washstand. Has the look of Early Empire Periord furniture I have seen. It is quite lovely with ornate carved legs and beautiful detail carved into the drawers and backsplash. Has 3 drawers. It is in EXCELLENT condition. It has a stamp on the back that says No. 180 Hal Chest. I was told this is from the 1920- 1930's period. It is a beautiful piece of furniture. If could be used in a Hall. Or anywhere you need extra storage. Nice deep drawers. It would be perfect in a den as a side piece, a dining room to hold linens or silverware, a hallway etc.

I don't know the actual age but it resembles other 19th Century jewelry boxes. DESCRIPTION: Dimensions: 11 inches wide. 10.5 inches tall, 6 inches deep, There are 2 doors with what appears to be a brass locking mechanism and hinges There are 5 draws- 2 upper are small.
