The original finish has very warm antique patina on figured Circassian walnut. Polished to a mellow sheen, it is in beautiful condition, and finished on the back as well. The marble insert has been sealed and polished on this antique furniture crafted in France. Hand carved details are the work of a master carver. The left front leg has a warp. The one in the other night stand has a chunk broken out of the porcelain, where the people said they couldn’t open the cabinet. Each stand is 20 inches wide, 18.5 inches deep, and 30.5 inches tall, and date from the 1920s. They match a bed, wardrobe, and vanity that we also have for sale, if they are still available. They have beautiful wood and gorgeous inlay, and show some moderate wear, nicks, and dings that you would expect in a gently used antique. The original finish on mahogany is very well preserved with only minor wear for antique character. Waxed and polished. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain their patina. Original marble tops have slight discolorations as shown and have been polished and sealed to resist stains. This beautiful nightstand has been made in the French Louis XV style. Most likely dating from around 1900. This piece features graceful, slender cabriole legs, scroll feet, paneled sides and elaborately carved front faces on its drawers. The top is made of an inset piece of black marble, veined in tones of white and gold surrounded by an overhanging molded edge. This nightstand is both elegant and well constructed, including dovetail joints in the two drawers. No maker's marks or signatures. This piece is overall in good condition. But does have some minor dings along edge of the top. Otherwise only minor wear appropriate to its age. No breaks or visible repairs. Please examine the pictures provided. Nice Older Marble Top Dark Oak Bedside Table Pot Cupboard Nightstand F/ France
This auction is for a pretty and unique Oak Nightstand or Pot Cupboard or Bedside Table from France with a pretty Marble Top. This is a very well made cabinet with lots of nice details. Not only does it have recessed panel sides. The back is also finished out with a recess panel too which is quite rare. Note the very gentle"soft radial cut" of the skirt under the door. The drawer front hashorizonal fluting and the pretty door has a carved oval recess panel. The front legs are also beveled cut on the edges. Notr the older wide cut dovetail joints on the drawer, this is unusual coming from France. The mable is not cracked but there are some small chips of marble missing from the side edges of the top. It has Nice eye appeal and is a very pretty cabinet. It has a single drawer under the marble top for storage as well as a compartment ... moreunder the drawer with the lovely carved recessed oval panel door. These are now are"multi-use" cabinets/stands for our modern homes. Once sentanced to spend their entire lives by a bed, now these are being used all over the modern day homes. Pair Nightstands commodes French Style Louis XV Inlaid bronze mounted Marble top
Up for auction are a pair of beautiful night stands. Commodes, from the turn of the 19th to 20th century with inlaid wood, bronze mounted, with marble tops. These are very unique pieces with much character. These are 29.25" tall, 21.25" wide, and 13.25" deep. Each night stand has 2 drawers, and each drawer has two(2) bronze pulls. The marble tops are perfect. The bronze mounts are extremely detailed and run the ENTIRE perimeter of each night stand and 3 corners of each leg. The wood inlay is very detailed. There are a few blemishes and I will describe them. There are small vertical splits in the inlay seam in all four sides. There are several places with a piece of the inlay has been chipped away- the biggest(1/2 x 1/2) is at the top where the night stand ends and the marble begins. It is not noticeable because the marble hides ... moreit. None of these blemishes are overtly noticeable but upon close inspection one will see them. I share this level of detail so there are no surprises. Wife and I got divorced. She took the home theater which she hated and left me with the antiques. Go figure. My loss is your gain. ESTATE ~ Inlay Wood Marble Top Chamber Pot Bedside STAND Cabinet
Pretty marble top bedside stand with drawer and door measuring approx. 26-1/4" high x 15-1/4" wide x 14-3/4" deep. The marble over hangs a bit measuring the removable marble top as approx. 17-1/4" x 16" in size. I believe this bedside stand was used for a chamber pot because inside the door at the bottom is lined with the original white porcelain. The drawer measures 11-1/4" wide x 4" high. The door measuring approx. 11-1/2" wide x 11" high. The inside white lined compartment measures 10" wide x 8-1/4" in size. Pretty inlay on the wood. Door has the original hinges and lock. The heavy brass applique pieces on each side of the cabinet give this piece a classic look. I didn't have any room to put another photo but the cabinet always had a marble top because if you remove the marble ... morepiece you can see down into the drawer.
