Antique French Black Marble Top Nightstand Carved Decoration ca. 1900 Louis XV
This beautiful nightstand has been made in the French Louis XV style. Most likely dating from around 1900. This piece features graceful, slender cabriole legs, scroll feet, paneled sides and elaborately carved front faces on its drawers. The top is made of an inset piece of black marble, veined in tones of white and gold surrounded by an overhanging molded edge. This nightstand is both elegant and well constructed, including dovetail joints in the two drawers. No maker's marks or signatures. This piece is overall in good condition. But does have some minor dings along edge of the top. Otherwise only minor wear appropriate to its age. No breaks or visible repairs. Please examine the pictures provided. This French pair of walnut bedside tables or nightstands from around 1900 has magnificent hand carving and curved sides. The original warm brown finish is extremely well preserved on this superior quality furniture from France. Waxed and buffed. All that is needed to maintain the warm patina is an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth. Diamond matched panels are beautiful.
