Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE This listing is for a beautiful Asian hardwood carved table with marble top. Its age is unknown to us. But it is old. It's very heavy and beautifully carved with tusks up the legs and around the top, and the legs resemble trunks. It isn't flawless and has wear from age and use including a chip at the top of one of the legs as shown in pictures 8, 9, and 11. There are some red stains, perhaps can be removed but we didn't try in order not to compromise the finish on the wood; I noticed them when looking close. The most noticeable spot of red can be seen by zooming in on picture 7. Although it's in good condition, you might want to glue and tighten up some of the seams. It is 17-1/2" in height x 13" across the top x 16" across the legs. It weighs a glorious 19 lbs. I have had the great pleasure of living with and enjoying these pieces over the years. My pictures don't do justice to this classically designed mid-century Hollywood Regency end ... moretable. The frame is a fantastic brass ribbed rope or scales that was designed to flow and coil around itself. The metal coils are very thick metal and extremely heavy. My husband and I bought this wonderful table at an estate sale from a moderne house around 25 years ago. I don't know the country of origin but it says Italy to me. The undulating 3/4" thick glass is cut to flatter the frame and is part of the design. The frame is in excellent condition but could probably use a good dusting. The glass. Though wonderful, has a small(1" chip on the underside of the glass in the corner. Please see photos. The side table is extremely heavy and is an example of finely crafted and designed mid-century design. Bottom line is that this table has great style and I believe to be a collector's piece. It is a Mid Century travertine and walnut end tableable which I believe to be by Bertha Schaefer. After doing some research it appears to be identical to some other Bertha Schaefers tables I've seen on my mid century modern auction sites and they say they were made in Italy for Singer and Sons. I love the way the wood portion of the table flares in and out to give it a wavy look.It has a heavy piece of marble/travertine top that is in excellent condition. The wood walnut portion of the table is in overall nice condition. The bottom shelf has two small bubbles in the wood. You may be able to see them in the one photo, I couldn't get a good picture of it.not ready bad, but need to mention it. MEASUREMENTS: The table ... morewith the top measures 23" at it's widest point x 23 1/4 deep. It is 22 1/2" tall at it's tallest point. The travertine top is 20 1/2" wide x 24" deep x 3/4" deep.
