This is a very nice solid mahogany dining table in the Chippendale style. I purchased this in England and assume it was made in England around 1980. The condition is very good its a deep rich mahogany color. It has carved pie crust edges and sits on carved ball and claw feet. this will seat 8 people and with the leaf it will seat 10 people. It also has a skirt to the top of the table. measurements are 80 long but with the leaf in its 98 long. 46 wide, the leaf is 18 the height is 30. I scored this awesome piece at a frat estate sale in DC. I took it to have it"appraised" at a local shop and given very good news but truthfully I knew what I was looking at as you can see in the photos It has all the things to look for all flat head screws the bird cage is in great shape.The pin for holding the table in regular position is hand carved, actually the whole thing has evidence of being hand carved. When the top is folded there is a P wrote in wax/chalk at the top of the center post. The top is a solid piece of wood( I'm not talking about the detailed carved piece running around the top) There are no flaws that I can find it's in beautiful condition! We are pleased to offer this EXCEPTIONAL coffee/cocktail table by LANE. ALTAVISTA. The table is dated 1981 and is in the Chinese Chippendale, Hollywood Regency style. The table is made of Mahogany"faux bamboo" complete with jointed areas and"bamboo splits" in the wood. The table has an incredible finish. The table has a red(with burnt orange undertone) color over the dark brown mahogany and the red has been rubbed at each"bamboo" joint as well as in other areas. The finish is NOT a chalk paint, but,rather, a very professionally paint and semi-gloss, lacquer style finish. It is quite striking. The table is octagon shaped with a glass inset. The glass is badly chipped on two corners and we will not ship the glass. This is a fabulous and very hard to find piece with a cross banded crotched(flame) mahogany top possessing a large inlaid sunburst. Its top has a very desirable show of some age but no detracting condition issues like ring marks. Etc, It was very well cared for. It has flip down sides and a cross X stretcher. Quality center tables like these are very tough finds and a testament to how hard we work to bring you the very finest in New England. Hand crafted in England Stunning flame mahogany Three working drawers Satinwood banding, One of the most beautiful features of this mahogany Chippendale coffee table with drawers are the glorious selections of flamed mahogany that compose the top surface. The grain flows in wisps from the corners and grow lighter as they reach their adjacent destinations creating the illusion of fire. The top is bordered by a thick band of another choice wood called satinwood. This lies in stark contrast to the mesmerizing patina of the ... moreflame mahogany creating a wonderful combination. This table is lined with drawers on both of the longer sides for your storage needs(one side has working drawers the other side faux drawers) They reflect the same image as the top featuring the flame mahogany with the band of satinwood around the edges and are outlined with a beaded moulding. The three drawers on the front are easily opened and closed sliding on solid wood rails. The three on the back are faux(fake) and do not open but add an extra layer of aesthetic composition to this already marvelous piece. The elegant swan neck pulls that occupy the center of each drawer are made from solid brass. The extremely sturdy legs are fashioned in the traditional Chippendale style being straight-fluted and adorned with a bracket decoration on the inner corners. This piece would look grand sitting in front of a lovely sofa in your favorite sitting area. This table is new and in excellent condition. It was just recently made in England by a master craftsman.
