The glass balls in the feet measure 3 inches across and the legs. At the widest point, about half way up, measures 3 1/4 inches across. This table is not marked. Signed, dated, stamped or otherwise labeled. There is a small dark stain to the table top that measures approx 4inches by 2 inches. A darker spot next to that as well but not sure what that spot is. Both can be seen in the last picture. There are no major chips. Cracks or other issues to any part of the wood. It is possible this is a Louis F Nonnast table made between 1878-1888. I do not know much about this size. Style or age. If you have any information that may be helpful to identifying this piece. I would very much appreciate dropping me a line or two. Local Pick Up is best for this large. Beautiful and well taken care of item. It worries me to ship it as I have seen very few table such as this. However. You are looking at one fine piece of furniture. Part of JDI Collection* and purchased new by the current owner 25 years ago for a larger home than the bungalow* she now resides in. She paid just under a $1000.00 for it from an elite furniture store. The photos say it best. I have included with and without flash photos so you can see it the hues in different lights. To my eye it is a bit less red and a bit more golden(typical of fine oak) then either set of photos shows. Since the carved legs stand proud the base is larger than the top surface. The base is approximately 40" x 40" outside foot edge to outside foot edge) and the top is 36+" x 36+" Stands 17" off the floor. I have checked the web and a comparative is about $1200.00 today from JDI. Beware of lovely looking carved tables that are not the real thing. Beautiful round table measures 41" across. It opens and can be made bigger with leafs. I do not have the leafs. But you can easily have them made or purchase them. I have had as many as 8 people dine at this table, but i believe without a leaf it is ideal for 6. In good overall condition considering its age. In the center where the table comes apart there is a small gap on one end like it does not close all the way and on the base there are a couple of areas where the top veneer is messing and the wood underneath can be seen. Height 28 3/4" Width 34 3/4" KITTINGER was the chief furniture reproductions maker for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. This table was sold from the home of the Williamsburg Reproductions Program. The Craft House. This program reproduced furniture equal to the quality of the original pieces, done to museum standards. This very desirable piece has not been refinished. The table top is beautiful and in good condition. As you would find with any older piece of furniture. It has normal wear(some fading, light scratches, small dings) I am not a company or an antique dealer. I acquired the piece and it is in my home. Vintage 2-tier Mahogany Butler/Dumb Waiter Table It has 3 legs that are carved and it has claw toe caps. Top tier is round. Bottom tier is scalloped. The table stands approximately 29” tall. The top tier table is 16” in diameter; the bottom tier table is 24” in diameter. The table is pretty sturdy. The table does have some finish damage: It has a glass ring or two on the top tier. Both tiers have an area where something must have spilled on it and it damaged the finish– approximately 3” x 3” areas. The bottom spool looks like it has a split where it was glued together. Made in England Antique base New top Mahogany Satinwood band Carved pedestal Tilt top Excellent condition, This handsome table is an English antique pedestal made from lovely mahogany and a new top made for it. The pedestal was recently French polished by an English master craftsman and is in excellent condition today. With a 45″ diameter this tilt top table would serve perfectly as a small dining table. Conference table, or in a large entryway or foyer with a beautiful vase or statue on it. Tilt top tables ... morehave the advantage of being sturdy but also tilting up and moving out of the way when needed. The mahogany wood is a lovely, dark color and is contrasted with a satinwood band and ebony string inlay around the outside. This combination of colors and grains really makes the table top stand out. Perfectly complimenting the top is a three leg single pedestal base. This base has some carved details. Each of the three legs end in a wooden carved ball and claw foot. The carving is subtle and makes the table feel more elegant. Because the carved pedestal was recently French polished in England and the top is newly made from England the condition is excellent. It is strong and sturdy. The tilt mechanisms work well. The top was made by a third generation craftsman who used traditional. Hand finishing techniques to achieve an antique-like finish to the top of the table that will only grow more beautiful as time passes. The base was originally made around 1900. 18th Early 19th Century Tilt Top Table-Chippendale Ball & Claw Legs/Mahogany
I scored this awesome piece at a frat estate sale in DC. I took it to have it"appraised" at a local shop and given very good news but truthfully I knew what I was looking at as you can see in the photos It has all the things to look for all flat head screws the bird cage is in great shape.The pin for holding the table in regular position is hand carved, actually the whole thing has evidence of being hand carved. When the top is folded there is a P wrote in wax/chalk at the top of the center post. The top is a solid piece of wood( I'm not talking about the detailed carved piece running around the top) There are no flaws that I can find it's in beautiful condition!
