Maple burl wood 2 inch thick slab mid century modern table bench 4ft iron legs
This is a beautiful old solid Maple burl bench or coffee table. I think we picked it up at a swap meet back in the 70's. it was old then and has that 50's varnish on the top. The legs are a solid iron but nothing special. The Maple slab is 2 inches thick. 12 inches wide and just at 4ft. long at the longest point. It has wonderful natural burl edges. it stands 14 inches high and is easily strong enough to support human weight. Vintage Paul Evans Cityscapes dining table base from 1974. Made in beautiful burled walnut and chrome. It makes a very striking addition to any room. The base measures 49" long, 19" wide and 28.5" tall. It is in good vintage condition. All pieces of the Walnut burl are present and in good condition. Some have a bit less gloss finish than others. The chrome is generally good. With a handful of pieces with finish loss. I have photographed these clearly. The chrome plate with Paul Evans signature is present and shown in the last photo. Small Wood Square Living Room Occasional Table Octagon Base Burl? Inset Maple?
Very pretty. Very high craftsmanship. I don't really know how to identify wood. This is a beautiful hardwood table. My inclination is to call it maple, but I don't really know. The square top has an inset of a burled kind of wood. I can't find indication of it being a laminate, it looks solid, but again I'm no expert. The base is certainly well constructed of multiple sections of hardwood, and the construction yields a very solid table. It is fairly heavy for its size. Look closely at the pictures as they verify its quality. The down side is the finish on the wood. It appears to have had some moisture issues somewhere in its life. There is a milky hazing noticeable when viewing it from the the proper angle. I believe the only true remedy is refinishing. But in my opinion it is not bad enough to worry about and the table should ... morebe used and enjoyed as is. The octagon base really gives this little table character. Offered for sale is a Beautiful Ethan Allen Pecan Collector's Classic Coffee Table with Olive Ash Veneer Inserts. This coffee table features a gorgeous burl top in a parquetry style with cabriole legs. The table is item#13-8600 and similar tables in the collection can be found on page#178 of the 1980 Ethan Allen Treasury of American Traditional Interiors catalog. Ethan Allen describes their Collector's Classic tables as: Expressed in solid Pecan and tops with matched Olive Ash Burl veneer inserts. All are finished in a warm caramel color, and have a beautiful patina that gives warmth to the designs, and drama to the rich surface interest of the tops. The coffee table is in excellent condition with only a few areas where the finish is rubbed and no longer shiny on the top(see pics#8. 9) There are also some light scratches on the feet ... moreand sides. Acquired from a local estate sale is this slab wood table. Table is in as found condition. And is in very nice used condition. I am unsure of the wood, but there was the piece of tape on it marked Olive Wood. Table has screw in legs, and one of the screw inserts is stuck with threaded end in one of the mounts on slab, as visible in picture. The legs are also slightly uneven, and table rocks some what. Table measures 37" at longest point in length, and 28" in longest point in width, and stands 16 3/4" high. FREE SHIPPING within the Continental United States!
