It is all smooth but the direction of the wood veins indicate that different pieces were used to create it. Issues in regards to small damages are mentioned above. They are all on the underside except for the one spot on the top pictured in the first pic approx 12 o'clock-light spot. The most obvious and beautiful feature of this table is the beautiful selection and expert execution of the flame mahogany wood. Flame mahogany(also known as crotch mahogany) features a swirling grain well suited for a large round pedestal dining table. The maker then“segments” the top. This means rather than veneering it all in one direction he takes pie shaped slices and veneers them in a circle creating more patterns with the grain. The edge is then banded with an ebony inlay and rosewood cross band. He finishes the entire table off with a seven stage hand finish giving this new table an antique look and feel. The result is this gorgeous dining table that will impress all who see it. The top is fixed to the base via four large brass thumb screws. French Empire Style Round Marble Top Coffee or Side Table Round Mahogany and Verde Green Marble Coffee Table in a Neoclassic Style. Dimensions: 28 3/4" diameter x 18 high. The table is in very good condition overall. It is solid wood and was made by Bombay Company. There are some minor nicks and scrapes. Mainly on the very bottom corners where the post meet the floor. These have all be touched up with matching stain and the whole table has been cleaned and polished. The marble top is in excellent condition and it does not have any cracks or chips.
