Description: This is a masterfully constructed dress that is handsewn in a sturdy cotton twill trimmed with gorgeous delicate lace with a patterned silk( bodice. Neck and waist. The inside of the hem and the lining are edged in velvet. The bodice is boned and the closure is hook-and-eye. The pleated neck is trimmed with a self-ruffle and bow. The waist is also accented with a band of the same fabric and a bow in the back. Note the pleating details in the center back of the bodice and more in the skirt(to accommodate a bustle) The dress is a museum de-acquisition and proceeds will go to support that institution. Size: The waist of the bodice is 26" Across the back underarms measures 14" Doubled that would make the bust 28" but the style of this bodice allows for a few more inches in bust size. The length of the center back of the bodice is 16 1/2" The skirt waist measures 20" but as you can see in the photos. Someone had added a somewhat makeshift extension to that. The center front of the skirt is 40" long from the waist. Age: Period Original. Late 1800s. Condition Report: Very good but the dress does have a few issues. There is some torn lace(mostly at the edge of one sleeve) There are also some rust/age spots and a few tiny pinholes in the twill fabric. There is some tearing along the hem of the lining and the velvet bands along the interior hems is stained and has a few holes that are visible only on the inside of the dress. Antique TERRACOTTA BUST Victorian Woman MANDOLIN Sculpture ART Italian FRENCH
Antique Terracotta Victorian Bust! Here we have a Fabulous Antique Terracotta Bust of a Victorian Lady playing a Mandolin. She measures approximately 17" high by 12" wide-elbow to elbow. She came from the estate of an elderly woman who traveled extensively. And collected only the finest Antiques while in Europe. I was told by the family she was from Italy and purchased in France. or maybe it was the other way around? She is from the Victorian Era which would make her over 100 years old! She has the most peaceful look on her realistic face as she strums(what I can only assume it a love ballad) on her Mandolin. Beautifully done from her Lace Collar and Cuffs to her Flowered Dress. She is wearing a mosaic pendant around her neck and has a pretty hair band around the curls that fall from the top of her head. I have brushed her with ... morea soft paintbrush to get the dust off and lightly wiped her down. I see in the photos there is more dust close to her collar. And mostly in the crevasses of her hands, around her facial features etc. but I did not want to do a real cleaning as I am not an expert in Terracotta, so I will leave this up to the lucky winner. So please excuse the lack of cleaning and the camera glare. She has some loss of the"velvet" on her pendant around her neck and it looks like part of the Mandolin neck has been glued. I actually didn't notice this for a while, as when she is placed on the table it is not all that noticeable. Certainly does not detract from the detailed beauty of this piece. Some little nicks here and there as is typical of terracotta from this era. She has felt around the base and the numbers 477 29 on the back. She is very heavy! A lovely Art Piece that doesn't come along very often. Perfect for your Eclectic, Victorian or Curated Home! I have a very low reserve which does not reflect the value of this piece. This is a Gorgeous and very rare handpainted figural plaque depicting a victorian lady. She is wearing a green dress and a big feathered hat. Approximately 8 1/4 inches tall and 6 1/4 inches wide. Marked on the back with Wedgewood Gainsborough Factory Mark as shown. In great condition for it's age with some crazing and paint wear to gold gilt. There is a white spot to the left side as seen in the pics that is not a chip it is the gold gilt worn away. I don't see any chips. Cracks or restorations. Antique Victorian Plaster Statue Bust Child Figurine Angel Hand Painted Art
This auction is for a beautiful Victorian plaster figurine from the late 1800's. It is just gorgeous with hand painted details- might be German. But I can't say for sure since there is no mark. It features an angelic looking child sleeping and holding a wreath in hand. It is almost 11 inches tall and 9 1/2 inches across, 5 1/2 inches deep and quite heavy. It is in very good condition for its age- does have a few minor scrapes of paint loss and tiny knicks, but no major flaws or chips. Beautiful Austrian Porcelain Bust of Victorian Woman - Possibly Early Royal Dux
Up for bid is a lovely. Softly colored, beautifully detailed porcelain bust of a period woman. It is Austrian and several marks including blue crown in which there's an"EW" over a"Euro Wein" underneath crown is"Made in Austria" It is also embossed with 4865 and a 7. Written in brown under glaze is 139 and an E(could also be a 6) The coloring is very feminine and muted and the piece has the look and feel of Royal Dux- it is NOT being sold as Royal Dux, however. Greens, gold detail, creamy white skin, soft brown hair along with attention to molding detail. Look at all the folding in the clothing, the well modeled hair, and the detail on the clothing bows. All make for a high quality piece of porcelain. It looks perfect but on close inspection, you can see that it's not. The head was cleanly broken off at ... moresome point and has been cleanly reattached. You can see this in the picture. Unless you're on top of it, it's hard to detect yet it is clearly visible when you're up close looking for it. Other than this, it is in perfect condition- chips, cracks, flakes or color issues anywhere else on the piece. It would be an excellent candidate for professional restoration if you want a beautiful, perfect piece. It stands approximately 12" tall and is 7" wide at its widest points, approximately 3" deep. It is a lovely example of high quality Austrian porcelain work and would add nicely to any porcelain. Doll, Royal Dux, or figurine collection. Lovely Victorian era. Hand-painted Bisque Porcelain Bust. Excellent condition. Bust stands 13 inches tall and is 8.5 inches wide at the shoulders. The base is 4 inches square. The sculpture depicts a young lady with blonde braids. Her eyes are blue. Her lips are a coral color and her cheeks are rosy pink. She is dressed in a white blouse detailed with tiny white raised beads. Her pink jumper has a yellow swirl patterned collar, a blue band of trim and a violet bow. The base of the bust is blue and white with gold trim, and is detailed with a gold cross and violet leaf design. The underside of the base is marked with a blue square containing an oval shape. This antique blackamoor bust is fresh from a mid-Michigan estate and LARGER than most. Measuring almost 19" tall! The base measures 5 1/2" wide by 5" deep. She measures 11" across her shoulders! This piece does have a marking on the back of the base, which is clearly shown in the photos, most likely the casting company.unfamiliar to me. The paint is 99% original, with some poorly-executed touchups.mostly to the black hair tips. I will not being going in to great detail with regards to every little chip, however do expect some minor damage here and there. I did not note any cracks or major damage.
