Augarten Vintage "Courbette" Lipizzaner Spanish Riding School Figurine
I recently acquired another version of the Lipizzaner horse and rider in parade(red) dress. So this vintage figurine is available at a fraction of its' current value. This is the"Courbette" portrait of the famous Spanish Riding School Augarten figurines. It is an older version, which is about 15% larger and more detailed than today's versions. It measures 11+ 1/2 inches tall. NOTE: this piece is in very good condition overall. Except that the rider's right stirrup and stirrup strap are missing. I still have the strap, which can be reattached, but the silver stirrup above the rider's boot is gone(see photo) Still a lovely figurine, but sold as is.

Vienna, Austria. The figure measures a large 12" tall by 10 1/2" wide. The title of the piece is written in gold on the front of the base: Capriole Spanische Reitschule' and on the back of the base it reads: Hofburg Wien' Marked with makers marks underneath base as shown in photos. The figure is in excellent condition except for missing two small sections of the reins; please examine the two close-up photos of the side of the horse's head. This outstanding. BEAUTIFUL COURBETTE - AUGARTEN VIENNA SPANISH HORSE RIDING SCHOOL LIPIZZANER !
You are bidding on a beautiful and stunning porcelain figure of a man riding a REARING horse. This is a hand painted single piece and is very fragile due to the way the horse is attached to the man in a single sculpture. Most of the weight is perfectly balanced above the base. This is the AUGARTEN VIENNA SPANISH HORSE RIDING SCHOOL- COURBETTE. The base reads. Courbette- Spanische Reitschule" to one side and, Hofburg Wien" to the opposite side. The bottom of the piece has the markings as follows. The Augarten Maker Mark and"Wien" in blue cursive scroll. Next is the numeral"36" in black. These are followed by. AUGARTEN WIEN AUSTRIA" in red. Under that reads, MADE IN AUSTRIA. and the capital letter"U" which is followed by the last mark"1595. Very light glaze and surface scratches here and there as well as other signs of light wear consistent with age. Height: 9 7/8 in. Width: 7 in. Depth: 3 1/4 in.
