The rattle is in the form of a cat playing the violin. The cat is standing and attached to a wooden handle with a metal loop at the bottom. The cat has a whistle on top of its head and four metal balls chained to it. The balls appear to be filled with what we believe are metal particles that make rattling noises when they are shaken. The wooden handle is riveted to the bottom of the cat. The while works great and the piece makes quite a bit of rattling noises when shaken. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: Uncertain. But most likely early to mid 1900s, and could be earlier. Origin: Unknown. Size: Rattle measures ~5 3/4" long. ~1 1/4" wide, and is ~3/8" thick. The piece weighs 1 1/2 ounces. Maker: Unknown. Marks: Unmarked. Condition: The piece is in very good condition with no breaks or repairs. The handle is textured with what looks like teeth marks. But we believe it may have been repainted in black. Other than that the whistle works well and the piece appears to be all original. A beautiful and very unusual baby rattle worthy of a spot in your collection. The piece would probably benefit from a good polishing, but we chose to leave it as found, so you decide whether or not you want to clean it. The one playing what looks to be a flute does not have a KPM mark, but he fits with the others, although he may not be. The violin player is a little over 9.5" tall, great detail, and no damage at all. The man playing drums is 9.5" tall, great detail again, and no damage at all. The one with the flute or microphone is 9" tall, nice detail, no damage but has gotten something on and around his left arm above the elbow. This appears to be clear glue, although he has no damage. I have had similar items with company marks but this one only has the 6049- B. She measures 5 inches tall and 4 inches across. She is seating on a stool with her pink dress bustled up in the back. The chair and her dress are trimmed in gold. She has brown eyes and brown hair swept up on her head. A little gold shoe peeks out from under her dress. The figurine is in wonderful condition with on flaw to note shown in last picture. At the upper waist of dress is a tiny chipped spot in the gold paint. Another stunning porcelain figurine by Italian artist. Luigi Fabris. A beauty in excellent condition, she stands approximately 8 1/2" tall and 10" wide. As with most figurines of this age and delicateness there are a few very small pieces of lace missing and the violin bow is broken in two places but has been glued but does not detract from the piece at all. There are no other cracks or breaks anywhere. She is in the same condition I received her in from England. Up for auction is this very. Very rare Antique Hutschenreuther Blanc de Chine porcelain figurine of a boy playing a violin designed by K. Himmelstoss sometime between 1920-1938. Hutschenreuther is the name of the family that established the production of porcelain in Northern Bavaria. Starting in 1814. The company was founded in 1814 by Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther in Hohenberg an der Eger, Bavaria, Germany. After his death in 1845, the factory was headed by his widow, Johanna Hutschenreuther, and her two sons. From 1860, they produced hand-painted gilded porcelains. Professor Fritz Klee was director of the porcelain technical school. And"Abteilung fur Kunst" means"department of art. Klee designed the lion trademark used by Hutschenreuther in 1919. The research on this piece indicate through the marking/signature that the ... morepiece was made between 1920-1938. A very turbulent time in Germany's history. And very, very rare. The piece is also embossed with the artist's name, K. Himmelstoss. The piece has gilt/gold accents on the boy's buttons on his vest, the buckles on his shoes, the violin bow, and also as decoration along the bottom of the piece. Very nice vintage Ucagco Ceramics Japan potpourri holder figurine/statue. Victorian boy playing violin with pedestal and bowl to hold potpourri with lid. Large and heavy. There is some wear on the gold trims and throughout the figurine. There seems to have been a handle? of some sort on the side that is broken off.
