It is not my intention to mislead in any way with the information provided. Just letting you know what I know(sorry not much: I found the bottle in the bottom of a box of old"junk" at a local sale and thought it interesting. I was told by the seller it was from her grandmother's things and they had been in storage and forgotten about. It looks to me to be authentic, the items in the box were definitely old, and I believe it is probably an antique. It is not marked that I can find. The metal looks and feels like sterling but again, it is not marked. I did a quick magnetic test on it and it is not magnetic. I'm not sure what other metal it would be honestly, to steer in that direction. I dipped it in Tarn-X and it did shine up a bit, in particular the flower part of the lid and the chain. It could have been just dirty though so I really don't know. The main part of the bottle is duller than under the rim, which is very shiny, and I assume the dullness from handling. After all of this being said. It is a sweet little bottle and dauber. It screws on and off easily. In my opinion it is made well. Any questions let me know! EXQUISITE MEISSEN FIGURAL PERFUME BOTTLE C.1840
Exquisite Porcelain figural perfume bottle from MEISSEN- GERMA NY C.1840 This stunning piece shows a figure of a small boy holding a horn of a goat and surrounded by a delicate grape vine with leaves and fruit. The detail of which is amazing and so very beau tiful. The stopper has a tiny bunch of grapes with leaves. It has a brass stem. The brass of which continues with the brass fitting s around the neck. There is a tiny chip on the boy`s hat(pic. 6) and there has been a repair to the goat`s horn(Pic.7) Otherwise it is in immaculate conditio n especially considering the age. It stands 7.5cms with a base diameter of 2.5cms. The base is stamped with the Meissen crossed swords. It is in a padded box. Although I do not know that the box is original. Up for auction is a lovely antique hand painted German Porcelain perfume/scent bottle. This lady measures 3 7/8" tall and 1 15/16" across the base. The lady is in a colonial style dress that is pink with a black bow. And white sleeve ruffles and white dress bodice. She has a tall gray hair style. Her left arm elbow is away and returns with a fan to the back of the head. She lifts off just under the bodice to reveal a glass dauber imbedded in a piece of cork. The cork has a piece missing but the glass dauber is still firmly in place. The cork fits into the bottle but does not fit tightly. Offered in this sale is a pair of BIG antique Paris porcelain figural perfume bottles modeled in the form of a Sultan and Sultana that ... morewere likely made by Jacob Petit in France in the earlier 1800s. They are not marked. They measure roughly 11" tall x 5 1/2" wide and weigh close to 3 1/2 pounds each. Other than the fact that the stopper on the Sultan has been glued in place and some light wear to the gold gilt on both. The condition of both pieces is excellent. There are remarkably no chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines or restoration. All of the fingers and delicate parts are in tact, undamaged and free of any restoration.
