Measuring approx. 10" tall X 12" wide X 7 1/4" deep. The weight is a hefty 5 pounds 13 ounces. This is an excellent quality bisque bust of Robert Burns. Very. Very nice piece. Could possibly be Parian Ware. 1759-1796 Scottish poet& lyricist, regarded as the national poet of scotland. I don't know anything about the piece. It belonged to my mother& has been boxed away for over 40 years& before that it belonged to my uncle who was an antique collector.The condition is perfect, no chips or cracks, 8" high, 4 3/4' across shoulders. Marked Burns across his back shoulders& also signed in a circle but I can't read it, it looks like RocL but I can't be sure. Signed Canova on the socle and marked with blue underglaze Samson's"S" mark. Edme Samson(1810-1891) opened his ceramics firm Samson. Edme et Cie in 1845 at Rue Vendome in Paris, ... morewith the intention of supplying reproductions of ceramics on display in museums and private collections. Edme Samson et Cie firm is well known for their copies of the famous Meissen. Sevres, Chelsea, and Derby porcelains, but has claimed that all reproductions the firm produced would be distinctly marked to avoid confusion with the originals. Ironically this figurine is wrongfully attributed and authorship belongs not to the famous Italian sculptor Antonio Canova(1757-1822) But to French- Charles-Gabriel Sauvage called Lemire(1741-1827) and was created by Lemire around 1795, as a part of a large clock case that was never completed. Original in bronze was lost soon after the French Revolution and in 19th century Lemire's reading infant sculpture was only known by the white bisque copies. Produced by Dihl et Guerhard Manufactory. From the year 1781 to 1802 the manufactory commissioned many models of unsigned bisque porcelain and because most parian wares mimicked carved marble sculptures. It would be easy to believe that authorship belonged to Canova- the most popular sculptor in the late 19th century, and such sad mistake lasted as late as 1830, when the originals was fin

This is a beautiful rare antique parian porcelain figure of a lovely woman representing the continent of Africa. She is wearing a panther or lion snood and an alligator rests at her feet. Very finely modeled. She stands approximately 15 1/2 inches high. Overall condition is very good. There is some pitting/dark spotting to the porcelain which occurred throughout the years. Antique Porcelain Bisque Figurine of a victorian boy dressed in period clothing. Holding a flower leaning on a fence. Late 19th century- Early 20th century. Actual date is unknown believed to be of German origin. The boy is standing on a porcelain pedestal painted to look like marble. Ornate design painted on his clothing. Bright rosy cheeks, a fence with shrubs. The detailed gold gilt is rubbed off in some places through out the statue and he could could use a bath. I did not clean him. There is a very small chip on his left shoulder and there are no cracks. The overall condition of this piece is very good especially considering his age. I took many photo's in high definition at every angle and left the photo's side way's for a larger more detailed look. He stands 16 1/4 inches Tall and is 4 1/2 inches at the base. A very nice pair of rouse parian porcelain busts. John Wesley" Accredited with founding the Methodist Church movement and"Francis Asbury" the first Bishop. The busts are approx. 6" tall, 3 3/4" wide at the shoulders and 3" wide at the base. Sculpted by Lester Murphy& distributed by C.C. Engle in 1959. They are dressed in Greek or Roman garb. Unmarked. They have a partially glossy finish and are quite heavy. Parian, not bisque. Unmarked, definitely Antique. This is a beautiful antique porcelain figure of three children surrounded by an ormolu cage. I think it was at one time on a lamp. The figure appears German made. Possibly by the A.E. Large Copeland Girl Parian Porcelain Figurine Statue Presented is an old parian figurine probably made by Copeland of England during the mid 1800s. The small statue is in the form of a young woman feeding some small birds attached to the base. She is wearing a simple dress and carrying a basket of fruit. This is a very detailed figurine. The craftsmanship is fantastic. There has been a few professional repairs over painting is visible on the back of the hair. On some of her back including the back of one of the arms, on the back of her dress and one side of the palm tree base. The base itself has also been overpainted. The underside of base is visible, if flipped upside down, but I can see no repairs from the underside. This piece might have been attached to a wooden ... morebase and mounted as a lamp at one time, which could explain the over painting on the base. We are selling this piece in AS IS condition. Antique Parian Ware White Porcelain Lg 10.5" Lady Head Bust w/Lace Veil MF #79
This is a classic antique Parian ware lady head bust. She is made of a pure white see through porcelain material which is covered with a subtle clear glaze protective finish. This lady was beautifully designed with excellent details. Her makers mark is impressed in the bottom of her base which reads MF. She also has the number 79 impressed on her lower back side. She is could be French. German or English. This lady is wearing a lacy veil and a lovely beaded necklace. I have taken several pictures for your better understanding. As to the condition. There is a damage on one side of her veil where I believe two beads similar to the other side of the veil chipped off. She stills displays beautifully. Especially because the white color makes the damage far less noticeable. There is also one very tiny flea bite at the very bottom of her base which ... morein no way affects the display, but I mention this to be thorough. There are of course, normal manufacturer defects in the porcelain. There are no other issues. This is all shown in the pictures. This is a good size sculpture measuring just over 10 1/2" high. Finally ~ there are two tiny air release holes at the back of the sculpture. All these clues speak of this being an early and finely made piece. Parian Bisque porcelain Figurine of Scheibe-Alsbach THE MERRY WIVES WINDSOR
Up in this auction is an amazing piece of antique German bisque porcelain. Much like the English Parian ware, it is a figural group statue of Shakespeare's play The Merry Wives of Windsor, Act III, Scene III, where Falstaff surrounded by the cast finds himself in a laundry basket. It is marked underneath with the late 1800's mark for Kister Scheibe Alsbach, Thuringia, Germany Porcelain company. Marked on the side Act III Sc III and marked on the back 9178 27. The only thing to note is Falstaff is missing his pinkie, BUT WHAT A STUNNING PIECE! It measures approx. 9 7/8" x 5 7/8" x 8 3/4" high. Truly gorgeous- good luck! This Parian sculpture features a beautiful young woman seated on a rock with a flowing cloth over her lap. Beside her on the rock are 2 doves with their beaks interlocking. Very RARE LARGE Parian Porcelain"Wood Nymph" by Charles Bell Birch 1866 This is one of the very highest quality examples of Parian porcelain at its BEST. The details are simply breathtakingly REAL. And because it is uncolored this is an incredibly masterful feat to achieve! Birch was a MASTER modeler for sure, and this piece is so fine it appears to be marble. This is also a very LARGE example of the model. Standing 21" high, and it weighs a substantial amount as it is SOLID. Just look at the amazing detail. Even her fingernails are finely sculpted! 19C American Union Porcelain Works Parian Porcelain Figural Lamp base unsigned
Although unsigned this 19th C Parian Ware Figural Lamp Base of two lovers can perhaps be attributed to the American Union Porcelain Works group. I am not 100% sure about that maybe 95% It is in excellent condition I have gone over it with great care for imperfections other than minor production bumps on the inside I see no problems. Has the usual marks that Parian has while being formed. It has one wire hole and two weep holes. The figural measures 10 inches high and 8 1/2 inches wide. Large early Parian porcelain bust of DICKENS with Old Curiosity Shop quote
This is one of the finest quality pieces of antique Parian porcelain I have had in an age. I believe this bust to be by Robinson and Leadbetter although I have not yet found a mark. He measures 15" tall by 9" wide. A much larger size than noted in the book The Parian Phenomenon. He is in perfect condition and bears a quote from the Old Curiosity Shop-Death of Little Nell. c.1864 COPELAND Parian Bust QUEEN VICTORIA& PRINCE ALBERT Antique Porcelain Offered for sale is this pair of antique Copeland parian busts. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. They are dated 1864 and where modeled by W. Theed. They are both mounted on waisted socle bases, both of which are marked"Crystal Palace Art Union" SIZE: They are approximately 13 inches tall. CONDITION: There are some nibbles at the connecting point between the bases and busts. He has some tiny nibbles near the bottom of his cloak- the pen is pointing to these in the close up pictures. There are some typical firing flaws and residue in the porcelain- some black specks most obvious on his right shoulder, and firing line between his right nostril and mustache. This is a stunning highly detailed antique 19th century parian figural sculpture. It depicts a gorgeous female figure wrapped in a flowing tapestry. she kneels on a large tasseled pillow and holds a very detailed box in her both hands. is is done with great dimension and is a nice sized statue. it measures 7 inches tall by 5 3/4 inches. it is overall in nice condition but the tip of her thumb and tip of her toe is chipped. A rare and beautiful pair of superbly molded figurines made from Parian(Bisquit) porcelain. Parian is essentially designed to imitate carved marble. Dated C.1940`s after WW11 From the ROYAL DUX factory in Czechoslavakia which began 1860 by Eduard Eichlier in what was then Duchov. Bohemia producing the high quality porcelain figures generally referred to in the abbreviated name of Royal Dux. Both figurines have the famous raised pink clay triangle on the base. With the initial"D" impressed into the triangle. Also on the base of 22253 only is the ink stamped Royal Dux triangle surrounded by Hand Painted Made in Czech Republic. Number 2252 has only the pink clay triangle as well as the impressed number. 22252 is called FRIVOLITY. The other, partially naked, number 22253 is called HOPE AND ANCHOR.
