Know for being the first person to have swum the English Channel in August of 1875. From Dover to Calais, a distance of 40 miles in 21 hours and 45 minutes. Excellent quality and detailing. The back reads" Swan from Dover to Calais Capt n Webb Time 21 3/4 Hours" This bust shows him wearing two me dals. The first being the Royal Humane Society Stanhope Medal( the first recipient) for his attempted rescue of a seaman from the Atlantic Ocean and the second. The Liverpool Humane Society Medal. He was later awarded the newly designed Stanhope medal which is not shown on this bust. I have searched online and only found one other Parian bust of Captain Webb which sold at Bonhams ... moreauction house. It was a pedestal bust and he is shown with the three medals so I believe this to be possibly an earlier piece. Antique Parian Girl Wearing A cross Bust Has Been Glued
This is a very fine bust and she is unfortunately broken. The neck has been glued but could use a better repair. The girl has no marks and she is about 7 inches tall. There might possibly be a nick above her eye but it is hard to tell if it was original or if it is a chip. The girl is wearing a cross. The bisque does have some dark pin prick marks and it might be normal. I don't know.

Large 19th C Copeland Parian Bust of Lord Byron This large parian is in the form of Lord Byron mounted on a circular base with it's originalbrass cut nut. It is unsigned but we believe it was made by Copeland. It dates from the mid. to 3rd quarter of the 19th century and measures approximately 14 + 7/8 inches at it's highest point. 10 + 3/8 inches at it's widest point, and 4 + 1/2 inches acros the base. Offered for auction is this excellent Victorian parian bust of Clytie. No chips. Cracks or other flaws except for a few minor chips to the underside rim of the base. These may not be chips but manufacture defects, but they are irrelevant as they are not in any way visible unless you turn the bust completely upside down. I mention them only for extreme accuracy. Very good detail and form. Clytie was a very common Victorian bust and this particular one was once available in a number of sizes. No regrets on this piece and no reserve. Bust is in very good condition, no chips or nicks or cracks. It is quite large measuring 10" in height and 6 1/4" across. It is impressed with J& TB on the back. Hard to find these in this good of condition. Draped figure with festoon necklace, ringlets, even top of head has wavy stands of hair. Really well done. Antique Parian Ware White Porcelain Lg 10.5" Lady Head Bust w/Lace Veil MF #79
This is a classic antique Parian ware lady head bust. She is made of a pure white see through porcelain material which is covered with a subtle clear glaze protective finish. This lady was beautifully designed with excellent details. Her makers mark is impressed in the bottom of her base which reads MF. She also has the number 79 impressed on her lower back side. She is could be French. German or English. This lady is wearing a lacy veil and a lovely beaded necklace. I have taken several pictures for your better understanding. As to the condition. There is a damage on one side of her veil where I believe two beads similar to the other side of the veil chipped off. She stills displays beautifully. Especially because the white color makes the damage far less noticeable. There is also one very tiny flea bite at the very bottom of her base which ... morein no way affects the display, but I mention this to be thorough. There are of course, normal manufacturer defects in the porcelain. There are no other issues. This is all shown in the pictures. This is a good size sculpture measuring just over 10 1/2" high. She measures 6 1/4" across from shoulder to shoulder and is 4" deep from front to back. Her base measures 3 1/2" across and is 3 1/4" from front to back. She weighs 3lbs 2oz unboxed. Japan Parian porcelain girl w/ faux bronze stylized base NICE SIZE 9" tall and base is about 2 3/4" I've had this about 10 yrs base is in an organic flower design that has been at finished to look like patina bronze. This item is in the style of bronze figures that have white ivory faces but it is a delicate porcelain unglazed/ parian figure the top(girl) is in white parian to mimic marble or ivory. A very pretty piece. Could be dusted in the cracks with a soft brush. I did not try to clean it because it is not glazed. marked on the bottom label still affixed. 1981 Quon Quon Made in Japan. This lovely English Porcelain Parian Figurine measures about 7.25" in height. It is broken and glued back together as pictured. This is how it was found and how it is being sold. The break is very clean the most noticeable spot is on his cheek and it is very mild. He show very well. I believe he would have been made by one of the finer manufacturers in England of the period such as Copeland or Mintons. He is not marked.

Antique Parian Bust Of Clytie Emerging from Sunflower RC-20 Robert Cooke 8" Tall
Parian ware bust of Clytie picked from a North Carolina estate. Bust and detail are in good condition with no chips or cracks. It does look like there was a repair at the base. And indeed if you look at the inside of the base there is a screw that I think was used as part of the repair. Standing on a shelf or tabletop, however, you don't see it, as all of this is concealed beneath the lip of the sunflower from which Clytie is emerging. I am not an expert and originally assumed that this was a reproduction of a 19th century bust. but then I discovered that it is impressed RC 20 on the bottom. This is the maker's mark for Robert Cooke who one source indicates worked from 1871-1879 and is a maker that is listed in The Parian Phenomenon. Page 242. So honestly I'm not sure. I don't want to advertise it as something that it's ... morenot, which is why I've marked the age"unknown, but it could actually be old. Please examine the photos carefully as they depict the actual item you'll receive. It is dirty, and could use a good cleaning. For those that don't know it. The story of Clytie is below: There was once a Nymph named Clytie. Who gazed ever at Apollo as he drove his sun-chariot through the heavens. She watched him as he rose in the east attended by the rosy-fingered Dawn and the dancing Hours. Antique Sevres French Parian Porcelain Lady Bust Figurine Bisque Dresden Meissen
This is a stunning large antique parian porcelain bust created by Sevres of France in the 19th century. She is very finely modeled and in overall excellent condition. Just a few blemishes in the porcelain which occurred over the years, do not see any repairs or breaks. The columnar base is a rich deep cobalt blue with gold gilding. Large early Parian porcelain bust of DICKENS with Old Curiosity Shop quote
This is one of the finest quality pieces of antique Parian porcelain I have had in an age. I believe this bust to be by Robinson and Leadbetter although I have not yet found a mark. He measures 15" tall by 9" wide. A much larger size than noted in the book The Parian Phenomenon. He is in perfect condition and bears a quote from the Old Curiosity Shop-Death of Little Nell. c.1864 COPELAND Parian Bust QUEEN VICTORIA& PRINCE ALBERT Antique Porcelain Offered for sale is this pair of antique Copeland parian busts. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. They are dated 1864 and where modeled by W. Theed. They are both mounted on waisted socle bases, both of which are marked"Crystal Palace Art Union" SIZE: They are approximately 13 inches tall. CONDITION: There are some nibbles at the connecting point between the bases and busts. He has some tiny nibbles near the bottom of his cloak- the pen is pointing to these in the close up pictures. There are some typical firing flaws and residue in the porcelain- some black specks most obvious on his right shoulder, and firing line between his right nostril and mustache.
