Beautiful antique Eugenio Pattarino“Madonna and child”A magnificent sculpture. It is signed on the rear base with the following inscription: E. Pattarino. Italy- Firenze” The statue has a lot of delicate trim. While I am not a ceramicist it is very clear that this piece was created in stages. The layering effect can be seen in the baby's loin cloth and the flowing ribbon that attaches Mary's cape to her shoulders, as well as her curls and the green overlays of moss on the stump she is resting on. This piece belonged to a priest, who collected them, while he studied in Rome. For sale is a beautiful figurine depicting Madonna with a baby Jesus. It was made in Germany by Goebel Porcelain. This is a very elegant figurine. It has been meticulously hand painted in pastel colors, with Madonna’s shawl being a lovely blue color, which seems to change from a light tone to a darker tone depending on the angle you look at it from. Her and her child’s face have been painted in a lifelike way. It has the word Germany and the full bee sign on the bottom, which was used by Goebel from 1950-1955. GERMAN GROOTENBURG FAIENCE POTTERY, MADONNA and CHILD STATUE 1850 - 1899
Description: Up for auction is a statue of a Madonna and child which I thought was French Faience. A fellow Ebayer identified the piece to me as originating from the Grootenburg Pottery. I checked the mark. And it is indeed the same. It's a very unusual piece; it almost looks Gothic. It has an overall fine crackle on the glaze. It appears that the clay was pressed into a mold and the the back smoothed by hand. As one can see the marks and the grooves a of fingers on the back. The colors are shades of blue and green. Country of Origin: Germany Maker: There is a mark on the bottom. It is a castle. It is a Grootenburg mark, an East German pottery. Period: early 20th Century. Art deco Condition: pretty good. Some crackling. There are two repairs that I know of. There is a repair to the Christ child's neck, and to the back bottom of the ... morebase. I am not sure if the piece was at one time mounted on a plinth. Dimensions: Height 9 3/4" I had quite an extensive collection of old faience. And now I am thinning out my collection. LARGE PORCELAIN MADONNA, MOTHER AND ANGEL CHILD, MEISSEN QUALITY FIGURINE
Description Porcelain Madonna and Angel Child Figurine Up for auction is this beautiful porcelain figurine. A mother or Madonna with robe is holding her hand over the flame that the angel child appears to be handing to her. The colors of her robe are brown. Cream, blue and pink, these same colors are in the dress the angel is wearing. Very detailed, you can see the painted eyebrow brush strokes. It is very heavy weighing 4 lbs and 13 oz. And is 12 and 3/4 inches tall and 5 and 1/2 inches wide across the base. Unfortunately there is damage, the angel is missing a wing and her head has been repaired at the neck. We know very little about this piece, there is no mark on the bottom however it is to us Meissen like in quality. We estimate it to be well over 100 years old, perhaps from the 1800s or earlier.
