This is an insertion lace, meaning that both ... moreedges of the lace are straight and it was meant to be butted up against another piece of fabric or lace. On the edge of the lace(either side) there are tiny threads that can be pulled, when done, this lace can be shaped into ovals, circles, a scalloped hemline or even gathered into a ruffle. This lace has a pretty and delicate pattern, it measures 1/2" wide. When I was ironing this lace, I had sprayed starch on it and when it was damp, it touched another piece of pink fabric. There several spots of pink on this lace. I counted 3 areas of light pink and I've taken a photo of it, so you can assess the damage for yourself. It might wash out, but it might not, that being said there is still plenty of good usable lace here, as there is a total of 11-5/8 un-cut YARDS.that's a lot of lace for your sewing and crafting needs. Over the years this lace has softened to a soft, light beige. This old lace is well over 100 years old and to find this much un-cut yardage is hard to come by. Be sure to view my other lace auctions. Description: This is a masterfully constructed dress that is handsewn in a sturdy cotton twill trimmed with gorgeous delicate lace with a patterned silk( bodice. Neck and waist. The inside of the hem and the lining are edged in velvet. The bodice is boned and the closure is hook-and-eye. The pleated neck is trimmed with a self-ruffle and bow. The waist is also accented with a band of the same fabric and a bow in the back. Note the pleating details in the center back of the bodice and more in the skirt(to accommodate a bustle) The dress is a museum de-acquisition and proceeds will go to support that institution. Size: The waist of the bodice is 26" Across the back underarms measures 14" Doubled that would make the bust 28" but the style of this bodice allows for a few more inches in bust size. The length of the center back of the bodice is 16 1/2" The skirt waist measures 20" but as you can see in the photos. Someone had added a somewhat makeshift extension to that. The center front of the skirt is 40" long from the waist. Age: Period Original. Late 1800s. Condition Report: Very good but the dress does have a few issues. There is some torn lace(mostly at the edge of one sleeve) There are also some rust/age spots and a few tiny pinholes in the twill fabric. There is some tearing along the hem of the lining and the velvet bands along the interior hems is stained and has a few holes that are visible only on the inside of the dress. This features a woman in a multi-layered lace dress decorated with flowers. Markings(a blue crown over a D) date it from Sandizell Hoffner in the 1980's. Made in Western Germany. Appoximately 4" tall. It's in e xcellent used condition. I see no flaws with the entire figure.But it is very detailed and I may have missed a minor flaw. See pictures for condition. She sits in at just about 3 1/2" tall and WAS perfect till I laid her down for a picture of the Dresden mark and I chipped off some lace. Luckily it was in the back and when sitting you don't notice. As determined from its unique styling. The stamp and markings, and from the delicacy and precision of craftsmanship it was manufactured in one of the early 1900's porcelain houses in the Dresden Region of Germany. Dresden is not a manufacturer, but a style from a particular region. This delicate and beautiful antique porcelain painted figure is therefore referred to as a Dresden Figurine. Nearly one hundred years old, this fragile figurine has fared incredibly well. Understanding that condition ... moreis subjective, I will attempt to fairly and accurately describe the characteristics and condition of this fragile and precious piece of historic art. With one elbow bent. And her hand on her waist, she poses with her right arm outstretched with her wrist gracefully bent. Her dancing attire features a fully gathered three-tiered pink lace skirt. In the Dresden figurine style, her skirt is adorned with two yellow flowers, as is her white short-sleeved top. Her hair and facial features are painted delicately soft and lush. The glisten of the glaze draws one’s eye toward her beautiful face. The dancing figure stands on a one and one-quarter inch round base. The base is highlighted with gold details, as are her ballerina flats. The porcelain house markings on this piece are printed in grey under the glaze. She measures 8 ¾" tall and has a beautiful full Off White. Blue and Gold gown, filled with layers of lace and a blue bow. She has brown hair with 3 pink roses in it, blue eyes and a lace hat with a blue bow to match her dress. I have not cleaned her up because the lace is fragile and I am afraid I will break it. The name"Dresden" figurines is somewhat misleading when their true origin is considered. Even though they are called Dresden figurines. They were mostly manufactured in nearby Meissen. The figurines were then taken to Dresden to be sold, as Dresden was the capital city and the center of commerce and industry in Saxony. Dresden figurine history is therefore also Meissen history and vice versa. Measuring approximately 3 7/8- 4" tall x 2 7/8 wide on top of a concave clover ... moreshaped footed base of 1 3/8" x 1" in circumference. A delicate looking lady dressed in a frilly three tiered Dresden Lace white dress with pink bodice. Trimmed in Dresden lace around neck as well as the yellow rose anchoring the neckline and pink shoes. A rainbow of colors of roses hand applied throughout the flared skirt tiers as in yellow, pale blue and green petals. Two finger tips are missing on right hand which faces down and all others are present as well as on the upward facing left hand. What a sweet pose for this lovely figurine. It is difficult to determine missing pieces such as flowers or lace at times but I do believe a rose may be missing on the front of the skirt. Finishing the figurine is the gold embossing script like desisgn around the base. Presented is a gorgeous Dresden Lace porcelain figurine made in Germany. It features a dancing woman. She is wearing a white lace dress with hand applied flowers and leaves on. The top of the dress has a pink roses pattern. She is wearing gold color shoes and has flowers attached to her brown hair. The figurine stands 7 3/4" tall. There is loss to the lace on her dress. I don’t have much experience or information on this sort of item and do not know if is should be classified as ceramic or porcelain but will describe as well as possible. I have seen one other listed which looked like it was probably from the same manufacturer, same style, colors, etc which said it was 60 years old, so this is most likely vintage. This statuette is of a Victorian era girl or lady with a horn or trumpet in her hand. At her side is a dalmatian dog in a begging position. She has no chips or wear of any kind. This piece is unmarked on bottom. See photo. The girl has on a pale purple with flowers dress and a hat. The piece has gold gilt throughout and is painted in great detail. Her dress has lace at the bottom of each sleeve and at the bottom of the dress. Which ... moreis so detailed you can see through the holes—looks like it may be dipped lace, unsure. DESCRIPTION: Great. Old, vintage, antique figure of a girl walking her poodle dog. The girl is about 4 1/4" high x dog is about 1 3/4" high. No maker's marks. The girl is very detailed- look at those eyelashes! She also has gold trim details. She still retains her cloth skirt made of lace and ribbons, it also has gold details, with gold threads that match the gold accents painted on her blouse. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or crazing. There is some wear to the fabric skirt, but it is in better condition that I would expect. I believe this dates to the early-mid 1900's.
