~ Antique Sevres Urns ~ This is an early pair of French Sevres parian bisque covered urns decorated with figures of putti holding up swags of roses. A beautiful pair. They are large, each measuring 15 1/2" tall to the top of the lid finials. There are some old repairs. A few tiny nicks to flower petals and base rim, and one of the urns has a crack on the side as shown in the photos, however these pieces are heavy and sturdy and this does not affect the stability. Please examine photos and email with any questions. Sold as is. A fabulous early pair! These are large and heavy. Edme Samson et Cie firm is well known for their copies of the famous Meissen. Sevres, Chelsea, and Derby porcelains, but has claimed that all reproductions the firm produced would be distinctly marked to avoid confusion with the originals. Ironically this figurine is wrongfully attributed and authorship belongs not to the famous Italian sculptor Antonio Canova(1757-1822) But to French- Charles-Gabriel Sauvage called Lemire(1741-1827) and was created by Lemire around 1795, as a part of a large clock case that was never completed. Original in bronze was lost soon after the French Revolution and in 19th century Lemire's reading infant sculpture was only known by the white bisque copies. Produced by Dihl et Guerhard Manufactory. From the year 1781 to 1802 the manufactory commissioned many models of unsigned bisque porcelain and because most parian wares mimicked carved marble sculptures. Antique French parian ware sculpture figurine woman and boy Kaesbach
This parian ware figurine is 11 ½ inches high. 10 inches deep and 9 inches across. The figurine is a charming depiction of a woman with a child hanging on her back. The figurine is signed on the back with a blue crossed branches mark. It has impressed marks on the bottom that read Genuine Bisquit and Made in France. The piece is signed on the side with Kaesbach, which would likely be Rudolph Kaesbach(1873-1955) We are not sure whether he did this work or it is after his style. It is a lovely piece. The workmanship on the piece is excellent, especially on the fingers and the toes. It dates to the early 20 th century. It is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. The only imperfection is in the indentation on the womans arm that has something on it, maybe tape residue.

I purchased them from her daughter. They are identical and hold a Cup in one hand. A bunch of Grapes in the other. Grapevine Garlands on heads, blue and pink clothing with gold trim. They are dressed in Greek or Roman garb. Unmarked. They have a partially glossy finish and are quite heavy. Parian, not bisque. Unmarked, definitely Antique. This is a beautiful pair of 16" tall antique Continental and most likely French figurines of a well dressed couple from the late 19th century. Quality and detail is exquisite. Very lifelike expressions on faces and raised intricate beading and decoration details throughout their elaborate dress from head to toe. Not being able to locate a mark at all would date them to earlier than 1892. They do resemble the work of VION& BAURY of Paris especially with the detail on the bases with the very sharp maroon design of C scrolls. She is missing two fingers on one right hand and on the other is good.PLEASE LOOK PICTURES NUMBER 13.Amazingly enough, these don't jump out as missing due to the positioning of her hands.The man also looks to have possibly been holding something else in addition to the bowl he is holding. This is a stunning large antique parian porcelain bust created by Sevres of France in the 19th century. She is very finely modeled and in overall excellent condition. Just a few blemishes in the porcelain which occurred over the years, do not see any repairs or breaks. The columnar base is a rich deep cobalt blue with gold gilding.
