The right side is a mythological lion. The left a griffin. Most original gold remains. The skull, brim, ear flaps and neck guard are all etched in matching scrolling foliage on pellet ground. The brim is struck one side with the mark of Hans Becher(Guingell P.31) and the other with the Arms of Nuremburg. The brass plume holder at the back would have held an elegant feather splay providing a counterpoint of color and texture. Late 1800s/Early 1900s Fine Pair German 800 Silver Open Salt Cellars w/Spoons ... morePresented is an interesting pair of Hanau German silver open salt cellars. With spoons. This set dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The salt cellars themselves are 800 purity silver, done in a fancy floral openwork design. The interior liners are silver plated, and fit the cellars perfectly. The spoons are not original, but they are quite ornate and match the cellars quite well. The spoons have shell shaped bowls and a rich gold wash. This piece is in excellent overall condition. There are no splits. No breaks, no chips, no dents, no cracks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. The salts are stamped with the German crescent and crown as well as 800 for the purity. There is also the remnants of what is probably a maker's mark. But unfortunately we can't make out what it is. The spoons have what appears to be a small import mark, likely French. The salts stand about 2 1/2 inches tall and measure about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. Each spoon is about 3 3/8 inches long. The total weight for the set. Including the silver plated liners, is 232 grams. The weight of just the silver openwork salts and the spoons, without the plated liners, is 146.7 grams or 5.2 regular ounces. jm. German biscuit and porcelain figurine with all hand decoration. In my opinion, this piece dates from the 1850's time period. Measures approximately 9' in height, while the diameter of the base is about 4.25' The overall condition is very good. Far from perfect, but still quit nice. His horn is chipped, bonnets have small chips, his gun is broken. Hunting bag near the sash is missing a piece. The deer has old factory firing flaw near neck and the ear on the deer has small line. Tree trunk has small flake, so bid accordingly. No cracks or repairs. Although unmarked, there are script numbers of"490' inscribed in the base. These are a exceptional pair of early 19th C. figurines that are definitely worthy of your attention. The attention to detail, and the early colors make this pair a sharp find. The antique German statue of the woman measures approximately 9.5' and she does have a few minor conditions issues of which to note. Under her bonnet there is a about a.5' chip, on the base of the statue there is.25' Please see photo's. Where her hands meet holding the grapes, there is small firing flaw. Also, some minor gold loss on the upper and lower rim. There are no cracks, repairs. I believe this pair of figurines are German porcelain Volkstedt Dresden unmarked. The craftsmanship is so remarkable! If you look closely you can see the separation of the fingers on their hands; their eyes are painted with precision and their clothing is loaded with detail even in the tiny flowers on the boy's vest. This kind of craftsmanship isn't something you will see in your everyday porcelain figurine. I purchased this set of figurines in Tucson. Az in 1992. when I was helping with an estate sale for the home of one of the Hewlett Packard family members. They were originally a pair of lamps but I chose to keep them as figurines. The girl figure measures 8 1/4" high. 4" wide. The boy figure measures 9" high, 4 1/2" wide. The condition is very good to excellent. No cracks. Chips. All the fingers are intact ... moreas are the cluster of roses on the front of the bases. The only real wear is in the lace on the girl. It has darkened over the years and some of it has come away from the figure. None of it is missing. The number 6154 appears on the bottom of each base. Beautiful Apple Harvest Meissen group figurine. Marked with the blue crossed swords on the bottom. Also the painted#16 and incised# 1998. Some repairs on this piece. The goblet is repaired or is a replacement item. In the front boys hand. The lower portion of his leg also shows being repaired under close magnification. There are multiple leaf nicks including on the apples in the boys hat at the bottom area. There are numerous repairs and re-painting to the leaves in the tree. They look professionally done in my opinion. Not obviously repaired unless you inspect with close magnification. No major structural repairs. Nobody has lost a head. All fingers and toes look good, no issues with the base, trunk or ladder. I have looked at this under a black light and do not detect anything other than what I have mentioned above. Elegant porcelain gentleman bears a hallmark(a serif"G" with 2 parallel lines through it) that has been associated with porcelain works in Gera. Germany. Yet it also looks like a mark used by Unger, Schneider& Cie of Grafenthal, Thuringia, Germany from 1875-1879, so more research may be required to determine the maker. Very fine workmanship ... moreof the mid-Victorian era. The young cavalier is skillfully sculpted from cap to cape to buckled shoes. Even to the detail of fingernails on his hands. The sophisticated floral patterns on his courtly vestments are beautifully rendered in underglazed cobalt blue influenced by the Blue Onion( Zweibel) style. All the handpainting is careful and refined. Outlining the strands of hair, subtly coloring the flesh of face and hands, the fabric design skillfully following the folds of his garments. He seems to be sniffing a flower that is not there. Yet there is no sign of damage to his hand that anything was ever there. He stands on an ornamental pedestal unlike any other I've found so far; instead of the large gilt-on-ivory scrolls typically found beneath the feet of similar figurines of this era. This pedestal repeats the blue-on-white of the garments in a stylized vine of curled leaves with gilt trim, reminiscent of Italian pottery. There are other marks in blue under the glaze in the center of the base. But they are not clear. The figure came with a handwritten paper label with the name Kloster Vielsdorf. But the mark doesn't match known Kloster marks, and the quality of the

And extremely rare, antique Rosenthal fine Bavarian porcelain Biedermeierdame figurine on triple-tiered plinth, designed by Constantin Holzer-Defanti, and expertly hand-painted overglaze(much better than my photos show) about 7 ins. 18 cm) H x 3-1/2 ins. 9 cm) W. Marks: Impressed"C.Holzer-Defanti" 7" and"V" Printed Rosenthal Bavaria backstamp for the year 1926. This exquisite piece is meticulously hand-painted in overglaze enamels and gilt. Colors are vivid yet mellow. Appropriate to the subject, and in excellent taste as befits this fine art work. The skirt is colored a rich off-white with the most subtle pale pinkish glints suggesting the sheen of the satin-silk dress. The collar and front of the lady's jacket are edged in a long row of miniscule white raised enamel jewels and a scroll work, also raised, ... morerepresenting lace. Both sides of the lady's fan are detailed in a tiny leafy floral pattern. Gold is used sparingly in the finest way for edges and the lady's hanging belt. In all, the delicate hand work on this piece is truly magnificent and certainly exceptional. Austrian artist and sculptor Constantin Holzer-Defanti(1881 Vienna- 1951 Linz) became noted principally for his remarkable figurines. Such as this Biedermeierdame. DESCRIPTION: Up for bids is this beautiful antique porcelain ballerina. Standing on her toes with her graceful arms extended outwards. The piece is fine German Dresden porcelain made by the Volkstedt manufactory, in Rudolstadt, Germany. She is completely handmade and handpainted, and is wearing a puffed porcelain lace tutu with applied flowers. Her bodice and ballet shoes are lavender blue in color, and her costume is white with pink ruffles. Her face and hair are beautifully detailed. There is a blue Volkstedt mark stamped on the bottom, and the numbers"V13568" are also incised on the bottom. She is a larger size, measuring about 7 1/2 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches across the base. We obtained this figure from a lovely Philadelphia, PA area estate. The original owner told us that she purchased it in the early 1950s. An exquisite ... morecollectible piece!
