This lovely old art deco figure is of a hotel bell hop and is. I believe a cigarette and spill holder. It is in perfect condition with no chips or damage, and measures 6 1/2inches or 16cm high. Underneath it is marked'Foreign 18' so I think would probably have come from Japan and been made shortly after the war. Antique Mid 19thc Staffordshire Figure of a Pair of Sheep as a Spill Vase Lovely Staffordshire spill vase with two sheep. One a ram and one a ewe. The spill vase is 4.5 inches to the top of the spill holder and is 5.25 inches long. The sheep stand approx 2 inches high on a rocky mound strewn with porcelain granular grass. The sheep have granular porcelain fleeces. The sheep have gorgeous expressions and are very well modelled. The condition is good with just a branch missing from the tree and some rubbing to the gilt line which runs around the base. These two are just waiting to join a flock! DESCRIPTION Another figure from my personal Staffordshire collection. Offered is a rare. Very large Red Riding Hood and the Wolf spill in wonderful condition. It measures 13 ¾” high and the base is 8” x 3” The paint is practically perfect. I have pictured the places where it is flaked. As you can see, it has very minor flaking for its age. The dull mercurial gold around the base has a couple of misses that are not wear. The old gold doesn’t usually chip off so I wonder if this is just faulty painting. It has typical underglaze crazing and an old tight hairline which starts at a firing crack on the bottom. All in all. You will have a hard time finding a nicer red riding hood spill. Book 2, pg. 256) The figure is a spill with a horse and a cow standing in front of a fence and drinking from a well. The spill is in the form of a tree with shredded clay embellishment and 2 birds on limbs. This figure is 10” high and 7” wide. There is no underglaze crazing. I have never seen this on an old Staffordshire piece but this figure is guaranteed to be old. The dull gilt baseline and trim is excellent and there is very minor paint loss. Staffordshire Figure - Royal Princess - Scottish Costume - 5" Spill - C.1860's
Sweet. Delicate Miniature 5" Staffordshire Spill of a Girl in Scottish Dress The girl is dressed in Scottish costume. Carries a basket of flowers or fruit and rests on a hillock beside a tree covered in multi-colored, Autumn-colored bocage. Often these pieces depicted royal princesses. The daughters of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert- and reflected the Queen's love of all things Scottish. Victoria, the Princess Royal, was often the subject of such Staffordshire pieces. I would say that this piece probably dates to the 1860's. The figure is in remarkably good condition given its size and age. Often these smaller pieces were treated as toys and haven't survived. There are the usual kiln imperfections inherent with Staffordshire and grit on the underside. There are a few minor chips to the bocage as would be expected. Including ... moreone near the top-most elbow branch of the tree. The girl has a nicely painted face with good, light colors. There is some slight staining from age, mostly on the back, which is more noticeable in the photographs than in natural light. A handpainted gold stripe runs across the front base. 18thC Niderviller Porcelain Figural Spill Vase Figurine Figure Porzellan Figur
For sale is a superb figurine of a boy with a rat or something along those lines by his feet made by Niderviller around 1800. The boy is holding a stick in his hand with a line along it which might have formed a noose at the end I think. There is an open chest in front of him. An open barrel to his side and open tree trunks behind him. I think this piece was meant as a spillvase or match holder or something like that back in the day as there would be room for sticks and matches as well as ashes or burned up matches. The figurine is superbly modeled and hand painted in the typical fashion for this maker. A solid and heavy piece for its size as they did not use air holes during the firing process. There is the typical rock work as well as the gold trim on the base. The figure is in great condition with only the noose missing which I am not ... moresure was ever there and three very very minor chips to the edge of the chest. As is the case with most of their figurines he is unmarked. The figurine is 4.5 inches tall and the base has a diameter of 3.25 inches. Sweet, antique 19 th C Staffordshire flat back figure/spill vase of a young lady standing next to a vase on a plinth. Looking dreamily ahead and holding a small orange knot bag or purse in her right hand. She is wearing a cobalt blue jacket over a cream/white dress with green and orange border. The lower part of her dress is decorated with blue flowers having orange stems and green leaves. There is gilt decoration to the top of her dress and to front of the base. The spill vase is decorated with similar flowers and gilt rims. The base is only marked underneath with a small crossed cobalt blue mark. Dimensions: Height: 7.5” 19.0cm) CONDITION REPORT This figure is being offered for auction as found. It is an antique ... moreitem which has been much loved. The top half of figure has been broken off diagonally across the breast. Waist and right arm. This has been repaired and been glued back together. The head is intact. The top and bottom half of the spill vase have also been off and glued back together. As with many of these type of figures there are age related crazing. There are paint flaking to the hair front and back. This is a period figure as there is visible kiln grit to base rim underneath. Despite this the figure is extremely bright and decorative. I have here for auction this genuine Victorian Staffordshire figure/ flatback. Part of a collection I am selling today. This figure features a lady and gent with a basket of grapes by a grape covered tree trunk to hold the spills. It's 11.5" tall and 6.25" across. There is a filled and coloured chip to the rim of the opening to the spill holder. There is no other damage. It's in good rustic condition for its age. Please see my pictures.

He has a beautiful plumed hat and holds a staff in his right hand. There are two sheep at his feet below the tree trunk spill holder. No visible titles or identifying marks. Stands at 13 inches(33 cm) at its tallest spot. The base measures approximately 4 x 6.75 inches(10 x 17 cm) Weight is 3 pounds and 10 ounces. Condition: There are quite a few small firing cracks and flaws throughout. The tree trunk also has approximately three stress hairline cracks.these are mainly visible from the side and rear.
