CONDITION: Very good displayable vintage condition. Ernst Bohne Sohne- EBS Rudolstadt Germany Boy& Girl Dresden Figurine Anchor You are bidding on a beautiful pair(Boy& Girl) of Rudolstadt/ Dresden figurines by Ernst Bohne Sohne. Circa 1880, that are both handpainted in pastel blue colors. The figurines are 5 1/2 inches tall and are in excellent condition. The boy is holding a canvas and painting a bird while the girl is looking over her shoulder. The markings on the boy are hard to distinguish as it looks like EBS impressed, but the girl has the EBS Blue anchor under glaze and EBS impressed(more clearly) and the number 494. These are rare examples of EBS figurines, as I have only seen the girl once before and she sold for over $160. They would make an excellent addition to any porcelain collection. ANTIQUE GERMAN ERNST BOHNE SOHNE PAGODA NODDER LARGE PORCELAIN MOVING TONGUE
Up for your consideration is this fabulous German Rudolstadt Ernst Bohne Sohne Pagoda Nodder. The nodder is marked with the blue underglaze anchor and the impressed initials EBS. The mark was first used in 1854. The nodder is very detailed and the porcelain is so crisp that the nodder was probably one of the first made by EBS. The flowers. Face, body, shoes and hair are all handpainted. The hair is also etched into the porcelain giving it the look of real hair. The piece is expertly weighted and the hands, tongue and head all move. The nodding really last for quite some time. The nodders were used to warn of an upcoming earthquake from what I've read. The head and hands are removable, but I only removed the head. The head has a heavy brass ball weight held in place with some sort of plaster. There is a sticker that reads"German" ... moreon the bottom of the head over top the plaster. The nodder is in excellent condition with one tiny flake like chip on the bottom lip, but is slight and in my opinion doesn't detract from the piece. There is also a small plaster mark on the left shoulder, I'm sure this was done when the piece was made because its the same type of plaster used on the neck to hold the weight. The nodder is rather large measuring 9-1/4" tall, 9" across and 9" deep(from front to back) The ears are elongated.You don't come across these nodders very often and would make a nice gift for the collector of unusual pieces. The nodder was owned by the descendants of Jefferson Davis and dates to the 19th Century. I do have an original black and white photograph of the nodder in the china cabinet that the nodder was displayed in and the photo dates to the early 1900's. But I believe the nodder is much older and probaby the mid 1800's. The ph oto will be included with the nodder. I've shown the photo in my last picture. This is a darling Grandmother and Children Figurine from the Ernst Bohne Sohne Factory of Germany. Grandmother might be telling the children a story while a basket of fruit on the ground is waiting for the children to eat. Condition: chips on the leaves on the ground and in the basket. Tiny tiny chip on back top of basket, looks like maker forgot to paint or something was there just below the leaves on the ground. Grandmother's last three fingers are curled under, not broken, rest of the figurine is fine. Measures: 5 1/4" length, 5 3/4" height and 3 1/4" width. Makers mark is on the bottom of the base. We are pleased to offer this a fabulous antique figurine. This magnificent piece is in the Capodimonte style with a mark of the blue crown and N and the numbers 4 incised under the glaze. Our research indicates this is the work of Ernst Bohne Sohne of Rudolstadt Germany. From the early 1900's. We are basing this on the marks found in Rontgen's reference book Marks on German Bohemian and Austrian Porcelain. The workmanship on these pieces are amazing, take a look at the facial feature, the detail in the colors and design of the clothing. The condition is very good. There is some loss to the edges of some of the flower petals in the bowl(see 4th image) Otherwise, there are no other chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines or restoration.
