Know for being the first person to have swum the English Channel in August of 1875. From Dover to Calais, a distance of 40 miles in 21 hours and 45 minutes. Excellent quality and detailing. The back reads" Swan from Dover to Calais Capt n Webb Time 21 3/4 Hours" This bust shows him wearing two me dals. The first being the Royal Humane Society Stanhope Medal( the first recipient) for his attempted rescue of a seaman from the Atlantic Ocean and the second. The Liverpool Humane Society Medal. He was later awarded the newly designed Stanhope medal which is not shown on this bust. Charming Antique English Porcelain Parian Bust of a Boy in Hat As-is
This lovely English Porcelain Parian Figurine measures about 7.25" in height. It is broken and glued back together as pictured. This is how it was found and how it is being sold. The break is very clean the most noticeable spot is on his cheek and it is very mild. He show very well. I believe he would have been made by one of the finer manufacturers in England of the period such as Copeland or Mintons. He is not marked.

19th Century English Parian Bust of the Poet Robert Burns by Bevington 1865-78
Up for sale a lovely 19th century parian bust of the poet Robert Burns. The bust is marked on the reverse"J& T B" which is the mark for the manufacturer James and Thomas Bevington,Burton Place Works, Hanley, Staffordshire Potteries with a date of 1865-1878. It is also marked"Burns" on the back along with an indistinct model number. The bust is 9" tall with a 3" base diameter. The item is in excellent condition.

Fine 19th century English victorian staffordshire porcelain bisque Kate Greenaway match holder ca 1880s. The figure is a boy in a top hat with a basket on the side. The figure is in very good condition with a firing line along the neck line of the figure. This happened during the firing process and has been there since the piece was made. It does not go all the way through its just on the surface and very hard to notice. It measures 3 1/2"H. 19C English Minton Parian Porcleain Figural Group of Ariadne on the Panther NoRe This listing is for a fine 19 th century English Minton Parian porcelain figural group of Greek Goddess Ariadne on the back of a panther. The figural group measures 12 ½ inches or 31.5 cm high. And is 11 inches or 28 cm wide at the base. This Parian sculpture is after the original masterpiece by Dannecker. And it is considered by some to be a modern classic, and is perhaps one of the best-known German sculptures of the 19th century. The sculpture shows Ariadne riding, lying in divine nakedness on one of Dionysius' panthers. Overall, the pose creates a contour of extended repose, embracing the sculpture as a whole. The bottom has an impressed number“840” The condition is as follows: there two chips. One on the edge of the base and one on the underside ... moreof the back edge. Otherwise it is in good condition. There are two holes on the inner part of the figures wrist where a chain might or might have not been. I have seen this figure with or with out chains. Wonderful details. I HAVE FOR OFFER A BEAUTIFUL PARIAN FIGURE OF GROUPING OF A PAIR OF KING CHARLES SPANIELS. THE PIECE SITS 7" HIGH AND IS 8 1/8" ACROSS AT IT'S WIDEST. THE PIECE DEPICTS THE ONE SPANIEL SITTING WHILE THE OTHER IS LEANING ON HIS BACK. THE DOGS ARE WONDERFULLY DETAILED AND MOLDED. THE BASE HAS A FEW CHIPS AROUND IT'S PERIMETER. THOUGH. DUE TO THE CRAGGY, ROCKY BASE THEY ARE NOT EASILY DETECTED AND IN NO WAY DETER FROM THE PIECE. THERE IS ALSO A VERY,TINY SPECK ON THE FRONT PAW OF THE SITTING DOG. AGAIN, IT IN NO WAY IMPEDES THE BEAUTY OF THE FIGURE. IT IS ALSO NOT EASILY DETECTED. THERE ARE NO MARKINGS BUT THE PIECE WAS OBVIOUSLY EXECUTED BY ONE OF THE BETTER COMPANIES.
