c18 English Chelsea Figures. Large Gorgeous! These are a magnificent and large original 18c English porcelain Chelsea figures! A beautiful woman with sheep at the base. And a gentleman with dog to his side. Hand painted with extremely fine detail, beautiful colors! Applied flowers and ribbons decorate the clothing. The figures are very heavy and substantial. The detail and quality is top notch! The condition is very good overall with some minor damage. The woman has some damage to the ribbons on her one sleeve, and some of the ribbons may have restoration. The gentleman has one finger tip off, and possible restoration to his hat? The spot you see on the front of the man's ha t. Is just glare from camera flash, it s not rubbed off pai nt if you are wondering. The bocage on both pieces has some restored or touched up leaves. A wonderful pair of ceramic Dalmation dogs figurines. Hand painted and both different. Stands 3 3/4" tall and 2 3/8" in diameter. They have the gold anchor painted mark( Chelsea Samson} on the underside. This is confusing to me since all the research I have done shows the Samson Chelsea gold anchor painted on the base. And not the underside. They belonged to my late mother and she had them for over 40 years, they were always kept in a curio cabinet. They are in pristine condition, no chips, cracks or crazing.

It's time these beautiful busts come out and grace the home of someone who will display and enjoy them. I purchased these at a very reputable, high end antique shop many, many years ago. that shop is still in business) I was/am personal friends with the owner and got a call when these came into his shop. These are very special and I think. After you look them over, you'll agree. The gold anchor mark is widely used by many companies trying to mimic Chelsea Porcelains. I have looked at dozens and dozens of examples claiming to be Chelsea. But have come across few worthy of the quality that a true Chelsea Porcelain carries. It's all about the details and porcelain purity. This pair of busts measure approx 5" high x approx ... more4" wide at the widest point. The beautiful. Elegant bases are approx 2" in diameter and are solid. Not hollow. Each is stamped in gold"Germany" and an Asterisk inside a gold circle. There are numbers hand written on the bottom of each which could indicate artist, pattern no. or color scheme. The one with the ruffled hat has flawless ruffles on her hat and blouse.Her lovely pale blue and lavender attire contain hand painted details. Her hat ribbon. Tied neatly under her chin, has just the smallest nick on the end of one ribbon. I found it curious that the porcelain figure itself has a(white) ribbon molded into it right beneath the applied ribbon. Her corsage of 4 delicate blossoms has multiple nicks, totally consistent with the age of the figure. She's obviously all hand painted with exquisitely detailed flowers and gold leafing. Her facial features are absolutely stunning and it's hard not to stare into her eyes. 1760s English Porcelain 5in. Figurine of Springtime (Putti Bow/Derby or Chelsea)
Soft paste Porcelain Putto representing Spring(one of the Four Seasons) with applied leaves. Florets with egg-yellow& black centers, braided hair and minimal additional enameled decoration on a plain base with very minor damage and dating from the late 1750s or 1760s(for full details, continue reading below) Welcome to a Special Sale Listing and. enjoy! ITEM DETAILS: Wonderful early English porcelain figurine of a child with braided hair carrying a basket of flowers on a simple base adorned with leaves and flower heads(symbolic of Spring in a four seasons theme) The young person is leaning against a short tree stump and wearing puce and soft blue drape around her left hip. The figurine is well painted with her brown hair finely detailed to accent her long braid formed into a circle and ending in a tight knot(see close-up photo) Her brown ... morehair is not painted with a brush but instead scratched with a fine needle to remove some coloring so that one can see both individual strands and braiding. Her face is also expertly painted with her eyebrows again painted with a single hair as a brush and painted in brown and made from placing 12 to 15 short curving brush strokes each. Her eyes have black pupils set within brown irises and each also has a small red tear duct in the corner. The girls nose has her nostrils outlined in light brown and her lips are colored blood red. Other details include small applied flowers with six pedals and bright yellow(egg yellow) centers topped with a tiny dark blackish-brown dot. Other important characteristics include two distinct shades of green on the applied leaves: a common green(translucent grassy green) and a bluish-green(weak turquoise green) Some of the iron red flowers were painted using a fine single hair brush and taking 25 to 30 individual brush strokes. The figurine is solid and not hollow-formed and so it feels heavier than others its size that are not solid. The parrot is 7.5 inches tall sitting on a stump and has the gold anchor near the bottom of the base(early 19th Century)and what looks like an anchor formed by slight indentations in the porcelain. Unfortunately. This lovely bird has been treated roughly. The last quarter inch of the wing feather is broken(see photos) but does not detract from the overall beauty. This is an adorable antique porcelain figural of two darling sheep with crusted fleeces resting in a bed of bocage. It is in overall very good/excellent condition with just a little bit of the crusted fleece missing on the end of one tail and a very small nick at the end of the tail. Hard to see on display. Measures just under 3 inches high by 3 1/4 inches wide and is marked with a gold anchor and also Germany on the bottom. This one is an 18th century piece. As far as I know.According to writing on a piece of tape glued to the bottom, it was brought to USA from England.We've bought it in 1993 in Baltimore,Md. I think it is a very decorative piece with bright colors.Has a broken off bottom leaf(see photo#4) No other damages or restorations that I know of. Rococo Baroque Style Antique figurines. Sold as a pair. Musicians with a Clarinet and a Lute. Also could be a Shepherd& Shepherdess, he with his dog and she with her sheep. I would guess these are probably from 1875-1900 period. Because of the Dresden type coloring) Although they could be much earlier. I know the gold anchor Chelsea mark was used from 1756-1769, and was the most forged mark. I have seen a mark with this S type going through that was considered Chelsea. There are other marks with the S figure, but they seem to be going the other way, and contributed to other markers. I just do not know or have I been able to find out who for sure who made these. There are parts of them that look like so many different makers combined. If anyone has information or guesses, please inform me. Antique Chelsea Porcelain Scottish Soldier Figurine On a Gilded Gesso Wood Shelf Figurine is in near perfect condition And has a gold anchor mark on back And very nicely detailed and painted All it needs is a good cleaning Someone at sometime mated it with a Painted and gilded Wood and Gesso shelf And epoxied the two together and did a pretty good job of it So rather than separate them and possibly damage either one I am selling them as I found them Total height together is 16.25" in. tall Figurine by itself is 8.75" in. tall Shelf depth is approx 4" in. deep The Gesso has some cracks and some wire showing If someone was careful I believe it is repairable It's a nice piece I also have a British soldier figurine fixed the same way I will be listing that one too so check it out Happy Bidding! 19th Century CHELSEA Derby Samson ROCOCO PORCELAIN FIGURINES SHEPHERDS ** Sale**
5 DAY'S ONLY at 395.00 for the Pair.REDUCED PRICE SALE: Rococo Baroque Style Antique figurines. Sold as a pair. Musicians with a Clarinet and a Lute. Also could be a Shepherd& Shepherdess, he with his dog and she with her sheep. I would guess these are probably from 1875-1900 period. Although they could be much earlier. I know the gold anchor Chelsea mark was used from 1756-1769, and was the most forged mark. I have seen a mark with this S type going through that was considered Chelsea. There are other marks with the S figure, but they seem to be going the other way, and contributed to other markers. I just do not know or have I been able to find out who for sure who made these. There are parts of them that look like so many different makers combined. If anyone has information or guesses, please inform me. I am selling them as just ... morea pair of unknown figurines. I put in pictures of the underneath bases for you to view. As they seem very old and these seem to be hard paste porcelain. I cannot find any other marks. These just both have a gold anchor mark with an S hand painted in gold on their backs. Please check out the pictures well for damages. I will list what I can see. Most areas with damage have had some kind of touch up restoration in the past. On the Lady: 2 broke off flowers& 1 pedal end. 2 broke off leaves& 2 tips. The end of her lute has been broken& re-glued also the end may have been longer with more to it. On the Man: 1 broke off flower. 4 broke off leaves& 3 broke off tips. I also think the short dogs leg was broken off. Woman is 7 3/4" tall. The base is 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" Man is 8 1/4" tall. The base is 4 1/2" x 3 3/4" These will be sent fully insured and packaged very carefully. All pictures taken. Are of the actual item for sale. Ask questions if needed. Offered in this sale is a nice pair of antique English porcelain Borzoi or Russian Wolfhound dog figurines with applied"coleslaw" ... moredecoration. They measure roughly 2 3/4" tall x 3 1/2" long. One of them is marked on the top edge of the base with a gold gilt anchor mark. Chelsea used this mark. However, I cannot say for sure if these are Chelsea or perhaps are from another company that was using a similar mark. Both dogs are in excellent original condition. I would like to call your attention to the backside of the dog illustrated in the 5th& 6th images. You will see that it has a couple of glazed shallow firing fissure lines which look like cracks but are not. This is a factory original flaw not damage which is another reason for me to suspect that these are early. Other than this, there are no other chips, cracks, flakes, hairlines or restoration on either piece. There does not appear to be any loss to the applied green decoration on the base.
