This is a veryy sweet old Staffordshire miniautre porcelain figurine. Dogs(poodles) on a blue pillow. They have darling little faces. It is tiny, pillow measures 2-1/2" X 1-3/4" Height is 2-1/4" tall. Condition: There are three flaws. A tiny chip on front corner of pillow(lower left) and a chip on the back of the blue pillow(Measures 1/4" There looks like another one on the dogs hip that is laying down-could be a factory flaw but I am not sure-never noiticed till now(see last three pictures) It is still a wonderful piece! Staffordshire Figure - Theatrical - Actor - Antique - 8"
Staffordshire Theatrical Figure 8" in Very Good Condition You are bidding on a Staffordshire figure of an actor- possibly from Byron's"The Corsair" dating most likely from 1850-1870. Many Staffordshire figures were based on real-life celebrities of the time and I'm still trying to research the actor and role protrayed in this piece. There are no chips. Cracks or damage and only extremely minimal wear to the paint. Being very, very picky there is a tiny bit of paint loss to the toe of his right shoe and the slightest rub on the top of the orange cape. There is crackling throughout, as seen in many old Staffordshire pieces. The man's tunic is cobalt blue, a feature of Staffordshire figures usually found in pieces made in the 1860's. A Rare Staffordshire-like Antique Earthenware Figure of Wombwell’s Menagerie
George Wombwell was England’s premier menagerist. Shortly after 1800. Wombwell began to exhibit exotic creatures bought from incoming ships. His admission fees turned a decent profit. So he began to show his creatures all over England. His traveling menagerie became world famous. And thus prompted Staffordshire potters to create and market replicas of his show front with all the appropriate souvenir icons. I have termed this a Staffordshire-like figure. There are no specific marks to prove a genuine Staffordshire provenance. It may be just a later reproduction. But regardless still has considerable age as a genuine antique, likely c.1830. The price reflects the uncertainty of its origin. There is but one casualty in the antique piece– the left forearm of the woman on the front steps is missing. Fortunately. However, the piece is so very busy ... moreand so colorful that it was several months before I even noticed the missing bit. All other elements are intact as original. It is truly a conversation piece to end all conversation pieces. Antique Late 1800's Staffordshire Temperance Double Sided Figure, Water/Gin
This is a wonderful antique piece by Staffordshire of England. The figure is 2 sided with water and gin titles. One side has a young well dressed man with a water canteen. The other side features the same man looking much older in tattered clothing. With a bottle of gin. The moral or message is quite clear, showing how alcohol will corrupt your life. There is no mark on the underside, but I am positive it was made in England for Staffordshire during the temperance movement. In 1876 the British Woman's Temperance Association was formed; and in 1884 the National Temperance Federation was founded. This statue is a result of that movement, and has great historical relevance. It presents in excellent condition despite its great age. There are flaws or defects to speak of. The only very minor thing to mention is a tiny bit of faded paint on ... morethe hand, and hat(photos 3,4, and 8) Otherwise, this figure looks great. It stands 9 and 3/4 in tall, and measures 10 and a 1/2 in all the way around the base. This piece is a great example of older English porcelain, the condition is great and it will display beautifully wherever it is placed. Antique 19th c Staffordshire Greyhound Wippet dog rabbit hare figure figurine
STAFFORDSHIRE WHIPPET DOG& RABBIT(for restoration) This week I am selling an English Staffordshire Whippet dog with a broken hare or rabbit in his mouth. Standing with his four legs on an oval round reddish coloured base. Nice speckled reddish colour of its fur. And the rabbit is speckled brown. It has a dark brown collar around the neck and its tail's end is wrapped around his left hind leg. Some'coleslaw' patches are placed on the base and three stump. Half around the base is a gilt line. Size: Height: 16 cm(6.2 inches) Width: 14 cm(5.5 inches) Condition: Unfortunately half of the rabbit is missing and at its left hind leg there is a hairline crack at two places. Also a factory imperfection on the left side of its face has been noted. No further cracks. Repairs or restorations. See pictures. Shipping: I ship worldwide. The dog as been reattached to the base. You can see the old repairs in the pictures, and the pheasant is missing the tail, and the end the dog's tail is missing too- so I'm selling this"as-is" on account on the damage. Please excuse the reflections in the pictures. SIZE: The figure is just over 4.5 inches long. And is approximately 4.25 inches tall. CONDITION: It has the aforementioned repairs and losses. FLAT BACK HIGHLANDERS Description: A wonderful mid 19th century English Staffordshire pottery boy& girl Highlanders with each a flag in their hands. They both wear cobalt blue jackets. Hats and colourful tartans. Accents of'green orange coleslaw' can be found on the base and next to their feet. The base is oval shaped with a gilt line drawn half way around it. Size: Height: 27 cm(10.6 inch) Width: 17 cm(6.7 inch) Condition: In excellent condition with soft crackles to the glaze as to be expected for its age and a minimum of paint loss and rubbing of the gilt accents. Antique 19th Century Staffordshire Figure girl seated on a barrel with dog This Staffordshire figure is mid 19th Century and I believe. Although unmarked, was made by Dodson Pottery. The girl is holding a tambourine and is seated on a barrel with a rust and white dog at her side. It measures 9 inches in height and 5¾ inches in length. The colors are very vibrant and the condition is very good with a couple of very minor rubs to paint and no chips, cracks or repairs. This would be a nice addition to any collection.
