Rare smaller Meissen Porcelain Figure.M 104 91"Love Bound" A LOVELY MEISSEN CUPID PUTTO TIED UP. This"Love Bound" German figurine depicting the god Cupid dates from the 19TH CENTURY. Cupid is the god of desire. Erotic love, attraction, and affection. As you can see by viewing the pictures. Our poor little putto sits on a on circular grassy pedestal. The perimeter of Cupid's pedestal is painted in beautiful hues of blues and pinks and accented with gold draping and a sea shell design. This little angel and mighty cherub is sans clothing with only a pink/mauve cloth covering him. His hands and small purple and white angel's wings are tied behind his back. His facial expression show discomfort at being put into such a helpless position. His hair is wavy and detailed. They don't make porcelain figures and figurines ... morelike this any more! Very good condition- no cracks. One of the cherub's hand shows signs of previous repair. The top of one of his feet is chipped as is common for these 19th century Meissen antiques. Underneath are the clear marks used between 1875 and 1900- The Meissen crossed swords in underglaze blue. First quality. Incised M 104 and small 91 impressed in the base. Antique Victorian VOLKSTEDT LADY PUTTI Porcelain Plaque 19c German Bisque Figure This amazing high relief bisque plaque is attributed to Volkstedt German. Circa late 19th century. And features a classical maiden and her resting child. Made as part of a four seasons series. This one appears to be"A utumn" and has the mother and her child resting atop bales of hay. Excellent quality and attention to detail. One of the nicest plaques I have had the pleasure of listing. Approx. measurements of the plaque is 10 3/4" in diameter and approx. 2 1/2" deep. Excellent condition with minor age appropriate wear. The only thing I see that may be wrong, is the piec e she is holding in her hand. Is bit rough on bottom. From the photo of a similar one sold at Christie's(see note below) it looks like she is supposed to be holding a ... moresickle in her hand. It is not something you would not even notice unless you were looking at both plaques at same time. No other chips cracks or repairs. Colors are a bit brighter in photos than they are on actual plaque. Although unmarked. The plaque is definitely of German origin and most likely Volstedt. A complete set of 4 sold at auction at Christie's in 1998 for more than $4500 usd. The last photos is shown for reference only and shows the four plaques from Christie's. For your consideration: unbelievably rare and amazingly beautiful candelabra. Made by Sitzendorf( Germany) during their early period(1850-1890) This giant and extremely heavy piece stands 21 inches tall. 13& 1/2" at the top widest part, and 6& 1/2" at the bottom of base. The detail of the eyes, hair, finger and toe nails and floral decorations is strikingly sharp and can be compared only to museum rococo pieces. The decorations are done in a very soft pastel colors with a delicate touch of an artist. The c ondition of the piece. Considering it's age. Is very good. There are some minor losses to the leaves and flowers. Which overall very hard to notice. There is a stress line in the base(see pic. 4 and#10) produced during the actual manufacturing of the piece. This occurred because the lower temperature of the bake means ... moresharper detail. That's why this kind of early pieces have more under bake stress lines, than the regular ones. And features a classical maiden and her child gardening. Made as part of a four seasons series. This one appears to be"Spring" and has the child offering his mother flowers as she tries to garden. Excellent quality and attention to detail. One of the nicest plaques I have had the pleasure of listing. Approx. measurements of the plaque is 10 3/4" in diameter and approx. 2 1/2" deep. Excellent condition with minor age appropriate wear. There is a small chip on the back where there looks to have been a wire strung through it to hang it. There is also an indented place on the bottom edge but this is from the making. All minor. No other chips. Cracks ... moreor repairs. Although unmarked. Antique European Terracotta Sculpture of a Child lifting a frock full of flowers. This stunning piece of a cherubic child is in the style of Boizot. It is very detailed and was probably produced for the European tourist trade in the late 1800's during the time of the Grand Tours. It measures 6 7/8" high. Its base measures 2" X 2 1/2" and is approx. 2 1/2" deep. This piece is marked Boizot on the back and is in very good condition with a few very small chips on the base. The bust measures 9" high and is mounted on a thin wood base. On the base it measures 10 1/4 high. The pretty maiden is dressed in a belle epoque style with large fancy feathered hat with puffy ruffled sleeves. At her bust line is a large ribbon which rests on the base of the bust. The bottom of the bust is decorated with raised petals. Her face is very pretty and typical of the Teplitz Art Nouveau busts. The statues are of a young boy and girl and are brightly colored with pastel colors of green. Rose, yellow and blue. The boy is holding a walking stick and a piece of paper titled"My First Letter. The girl displays a happy and contented look ... moreand is holding a basket over her arm with flowers in her hand. Fine detail can be seen on her dress with delicately painted flowers and just a touch of gilt accenting at the end of the bow that encircles the dress. They measure approximately 13.5 inches in height and are marked on the reverse with the number"4730. They are in excellent condition showing no damage.
