Late 19th century French bisque statue. Figurines of a woman and child. This piece is in excellent condition for its age. The colors and detail are perfect. Some gold detailing on the base has faded. It appears the woman held something in her right hand at one time. The piece has broken off. Her hand is intact and perfect. The other condition issue is a small chip on the inside, top of her hat. The piece is marked. The marking is located near the chip on her hat on the inside. Please see photos. It measures 10 inches tall. 7 inches across at the widest(across the child and stump) The base measures 7.25 inches by 5.75 inches- oval.

Almost undoubtedly she would have had a male companion in similar dress. These types of figures were very popular from the 1960's until the 1990's(when prices were high) But in recent years, this rather florid type of decoration has fallen from favour and prices have fallen accordingly, but are sure to rise again in the future. BEAUTIFUL PORCELAIN FIGURINE GERMAN FRENCH CONTINENTAL 19TH CENTURY SHEPHERDESS
This is a charming and beautiful figurine of a porcelain shepherdess figurine. Bowed crook over her left shoulder, a lavender and pink butterfly on her right arm. Many years ago I purchased her in a French antique shop but she could as easily be German. The only mark I can see is what might be an impressed number 79 on the base. Her skirt is bright and colorful. The ruffle around her apron is aqua, the fading gold is probably from handling. Small chip, almost undetected, on the left sleeve ruffle, at the back. The bottom of the crook is gone as well as the tip of her finger connected to it. Barely noticeable unless you look closely. She is nearly 7 1/2 inches tall, adorable.

There are chips ... morealong the base that you can see in the 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th photos. The handle has been broken in three places and reglued, viewable in the 5th, 8th, 9th and 10th photos. His tri corn hat has been broken and reglued, shown close-up in the 13th photo. The repairs are old, as you can see the green substance used inside the hat, in the 14th photo. There is also a glaze speck on the top rim of his hat and several glaze flaws, including the one above the green base, viewable in the 11th and 12th photos. Underside marks include a large incised letter"F" shown in the 3rd from last photo, a die-stamped number"3" shown in the next to last photo and the initials shown in the last photo, which are under the glaze. These figurines have exquisite detail and quality. They are 11" tall and the girl has blue eyes with raised gold detail on dress. The boy has brown eyes and has a small cat in his pot.
