Maple burl wood 2 inch thick slab mid century modern table bench 4ft iron legs
This is a beautiful old solid Maple burl bench or coffee table. I think we picked it up at a swap meet back in the 70's. it was old then and has that 50's varnish on the top. The legs are a solid iron but nothing special. The Maple slab is 2 inches thick. 12 inches wide and just at 4ft. long at the longest point. It has wonderful natural burl edges. it stands 14 inches high and is easily strong enough to support human weight. Small Wood Square Living Room Occasional Table Octagon Base Burl? Inset Maple?
Very pretty. Very high craftsmanship. I don't really know how to identify wood. This is a beautiful hardwood table. My inclination is to call it maple, but I don't really know. The square top has an inset of a burled kind of wood. I can't find indication of it being a laminate, it looks solid, but again I'm no expert. The base is certainly well constructed of multiple sections of hardwood, and the construction yields a very solid table. It is fairly heavy for its size. Look closely at the pictures as they verify its quality. The down side is the finish on the wood. It appears to have had some moisture issues somewhere in its life. There is a milky hazing noticeable when viewing it from the the proper angle. I believe the only true remedy is refinishing. But in my opinion it is not bad enough to worry about and the table should ... morebe used and enjoyed as is. The octagon base really gives this little table character. I was told this is Maple wood, I am not an expert on these things, but it does appear to be Maple to me as well. The wood has a very warm glow and homey feel to it. What I can tell you is that this*has been in my Mother In laws home for at least 50 years. She never used it, per say, but was displayed in her ... morehome. This cart is on casters and is a rolling tea cart, and does roll. Working drawer on one side, with scroll like handle. It has the usual slight wear you'd expect, to my eye, this looks very good. I have to assume this was built in at least the 1950's some time. Table top measures 27"x17" when not opened. When fully opened table top measures 35"x27. Cart measures 28" high/tall. I cannot see any major flaws to point out to you, other than it needs a good cleaning. I do know its very important how and what you use to clean these antiques, and so I am leaving that up to its new owner. The table legs and the supportive spindles have elaborate turnings. The tables screw into the bottom of the table. Each table measures 23 5/8" tall by 16" wide and 24" deep. The main table surface measures 14 5/8" tall. These are in good. Vintage condition overall with some general signs of age and use. One of the tables rocks slightly when it is sitting on a flat, hard surface. The top tier of one table has a defect in the varnish with the general shape of 2 footprints. 100% vintage butcher block - table estate find solid rock maple wood
Here we have a vintage original butcher block- table. Bought myself from an estate sale. Entire house was 1940s-60s deco orignal too, cool stuff. 100% solid"rock" maple wood too. Pet smoke free, has some wear of course as shown, wheels look as if they were added years after table was made, wheels are shot too as you can see. This thing wieghs a ton, apprx 80-100 lbs easy!
