The one on the right is damaged as can be seen in the pics but the damage is on the bottom and can be restored. The faces are not exactly the same size. Look closely at the pictures because what you see is what you will get. Except for the noted damage the pieces are in great condition.These pieces are 18" tall. 12" wide and 4" deep. Appear to be made of walnut. I don't know if the faces are made of wood or of the material they used during the era for this kind of decoration. It was hand made in its entirety with love and artistic skills for the marriage bed of the youngest daughter of a large family in Italy. All the sisters. Grandmothers, aunts and mother worked there magic making lace, netting, embroidery etc and hand stitching all the panels together. It was brought with the bride when she entered the USA through Ellis Island, NY about 1920. It has been stored in plastic for decades and dry rot can be seen mostly in the sheer hand made netting. These items are a pair of walnut face medallions that belong on the top of a Victorian marble top dresser or a Victorian bed. Beautiful walnut. The one on the left in the first pictures is perfect. The one on the right has an issue and the bottom and a small issue at the top on the right curve. They weigh right at about 5 pounds each. They are close to 18" tall. 12" wide and 4" at the deepest part of the wood. Excellent carving. I am not sure what the faces are made of but am sure they are from the period. This two toned.Elegantly carved, full bed has a wonderful patina. The fabric canopy was done in 1992 in a beautiful rose colored satin and is in overall excellent shape. The bed was purchased in 1982 at an estate auction in Georgetown, KY, just outside of Lexington, KY. This bed would be lovely for a girl's room or in a house of comparable antiques. Up for auction we have a truly once-in-a-lifetime estate find! This RARE and exquisite vintage piece was discovered at an estate sale at the mansion of a prominent Chicago doctor. The piece is too breath-taking to pass up! Antique Tambour lace and cutwork Victorian figural sheer bed cover. C.1900. Color is a light ecru, ivory, cream, beige, and it is edged on 3 sides with hand-embroidered lace. Fourth edge is hemmed. Some of the pictures show the coverlet on a full-size bed. With a burgundy quilt underneath so that you can see the pattern clearly. The pictures taken outside show the staining better than any artificial indoor light could. I tried to clearly document everything. The opinions of three antique aficionados date this gorgeous piece to be from the turn-of-the-century era. Late 1800’s to early 1900’s. It features elaborate hand embroidery ... moreand cutwork with padded satin stitches. Some of the descriptive terms used: needlepoint lace, filet lace, reticella(reticello? bobbin lace and French linen. Overall dimensions are 82” wide by 91” long. As for the width. There is a 17” drop on each side, so the top that would actually lay on the bed is 48” wide. Length is 91” With a 17” drop at the foot, so actual bed-top dimension is 74” The 4 th edge(top) is hemmed. With no drop. There are lace embroidered slits at the two bottom corners so that it drapes nicely at the bottom of the bed with no gathering or bunching. I found one small area where the lace meets the body that needs to be repaired. The lace itself is intact. Just needs to be rejoined to the body. There is a close-up picture showing this. There is widespread light staining on the piece, which is noted in the pictures. Due to the age and delicate nature of the piece. Wide length of embroidered tulle lace(450cm long x 100cm deep) Dating to the Edwardian or Victorian period, this is fabulous lace that could be used for wedding dress projects, a bed canopy, curtains etc. The top 15cm of the lace is plain tulle, and this has several holes(similar to those in the ... morelast photograph) whilst the embroidered part is in excellent condition, with just a couple of pinhead breaks in the tulle. The top(plain tulle) edge is raw, whilst the bottom edge is scalloped. It is freshly laundered and snowy white- ready to use. A gorgeous, huge panel of antique lace- beautiful! This is a beautiful motto. Holy Angels Guard thy Bed on antique brown punched paper 8 1/2 inches by 21 inches.It is stitched in beautiful shades of overdyed floss, a light pink/fading to cream. The Large letters are dark antique rose pink. Surrounding vines and leaves are soft antique green and roses match the colors on the lettering. Small words are light antique gold. This variation takes longer to stitch due to all of the small leaves and roses on the vines.about 4 hours more. Outer edge is done in a Victorian Wicker and handles have colored beads on them. Signed in bottom left corner. Measures 17 1/2" wide by 13 1/2" tall. Victorian Walnut Bedroom set Dresser Bed Washstand Highboy Stand C.1870 "LOOK"
Up for auction is this stunning Victorian Walnut 4 Piece Bedroom set. All hand carved with burl veneer. Inside dresser drawers is a birdseye maple veneer. Hardware handles have been replaced on the wash stand and the dresser. The handles are original to the Highboy with the door front. The bed is 88" tall to the top of the carving and matress area is 61" x 75" The dresser is 88" tall to the top of the carving and 54"w. x 23" d. Wash stand is 28" tall by 37" wide by 17-1/2" deep with a marble top. The Highboy is 54-1/2" tall by 37" w. by 21-1/2 d. with 2 doors that lock and all the pieces have the original keys with them. The set being this old does have some aging marks(and who of us don't with that age) but is in very good condition. Other comparible sets sell for sell for $12.000.00 ... moreto $18,000.00.
