OH BASED UPON MY RESEARCH: The slumber chair was made by C. F. Streit Manufacturing Co. founded in 1871 in Cincinnati. OH. The"Slumber Chair" was made from the mid 1920's until World War II. I have included a lot of pictures because this sample book is in rough condition. It is VERY OLD& it's dirty! I have not attempted to clean it whatsoever. I will leave that up to the buyer. I think that the samples themselves could be cleaned up quite nicely with an upholstery cleaner. The metal binding& the staples that affix the little tags to each sample are rusty. Therefore there are rust marks/stains on the fabric throughout the book. Condition of samples: there are some rough spots, stains, and some of the outer stitching is coming apart on a few. The upper left of the black part that reads"Slumber Chair Cover Samples" is not there. Interior of drawers appears to be a secondary wood. Great solid construction. 8 drawers with stenciled drawer titles: CLOVES. CINNAMON, MACE, BAKING POWDER, PEPPER, GINGER, SODA& ALL SPICE. All drawers have their original one-piece drawer/ pull fronts. There is wear& fading to some of the stenciling. Cabinet is also stenciled in black at the top: SPICE CABINET. This wall-mounted(only) cabinet has two nicely detailed hanging holes at the top. Included is a wonderful little vintage scoop with remnants of original red paint.3-1/2" long. Cabinet measurements: 17-3/4"+ tall x 11-1/8" wide x 5-1/8" deep. Drawers: 4" w x 2-3/4" t x 4-1/4" d. Notice each drawer is painted on the interior a nice milk-paint red. I don't know if this is factory paint or not. Probably not. But this interior paint appears to have been on the wood for quite some time. Notice each drawer has a"vent" hole(see photo#10) in the back. These are factory-made holes. There is a vertical crack down the middle of the backing board. typical of old wood as the wood shrinks and cannot release itself from the nails holding it to the cabinet. Nice aged patina to the wood. Pepper" drawer has a small corner chip in the front(see photo#8) Circa 1900- 1920. Weighs in at 6-pounds. 8-ounces. unpackaged. Condition: Very useable. There are additional ormolu mountings to the base of the bed. On the side rails the herringbone inlay is repeated and the bedhead and base both terminate on turned legs. The bedhead is 133cm at the widest point across the top of the bed and comes down to 122cm across to the outside of the rails. The measurement between the rails(from the inside) is 115cm and the bedhead stands 142cm high. The bed base is 125cm across at the widest point and stands 88cm in height. The rails are 190cm in length and stand 15cm from the floor. These twin beds are not your average mattress size. Please check! The correct size mattresses can be made for the beds and your local bedding store will be able to give you a costing. The beds are in excellent condition. Constructed of walnut, a lovely soft, mellow timber with light grain. Definitely antique, we would date this very pretty piece to c1880. The bed features sweeping. Flowing curves and consists of a bedhead and foot, and two side rails. It features a beautifully shaped bedhead, plainer than the foot. The foot of the bed has panel work and a large ... morecentral carved motif- beautiful carving, with elegance and style. The shaped side rails also have a central carved motif for decorative effect. So pretty! This lovely bed measures 137 wide to the outside of the rails. The bed is 144cm at it's widest point across the bedhead. It is 187cm in length to the inside rail. And approximately 200cm in overall length. A timber base could be fitted to the rails to hold the mattress which may need to be slightly smaller than a standard double. I would recommend measuring your mattress and checking the dimensions against those of the bed. Some will fit, some may not. Please contact us if you are unsure. This gorgeous. Mellow piece is definitely antique and we would date it to c1880. Constructed in oak. This piece makes a real statement! Mellow in tone and with its original patina, this bed will fit a standard size double bed mattress. It consists of a bedhead, foot and two side rails. The bed has relatively straight lines, ornate carved central ... morefeature to the bedhead with the carved initials LB or BL. The bedhead has beautifully turned railings near the top, and both the bedhead and foot feature turned side columns and finial decorations. PRETTY! The bed measures 148cm wide across both the bedhead and base. The bedhead is 146cm in height and the foot is 97cm high. The inside measurement across the rails is 133cm and it is 141cm wide to the outside of the rails. Perfect size for a standard double bed mattress. With room for bedding. The inside length of the bed is 191cm. A slat base would be perfect for this bed. This bed is in excellent antique condition with no faults or damage. Certainly one of the most attractive beds we have had! As with all antiques age-appropriate wear and character marks should be expected. However there is nothing significant we can see. Constructed of walnut, a lovely soft, mellow timber with light grain. Definitely antique, we would date this very pretty piece to c1900. The bed features sweeping. Flowing curves and consists of a bedhead and foot, and two side rails. It features a beautifully shaped bedhead and foot. The foot of the bed is quite simple with panel work, and the bedhead has a ... morelarge central carved motif- beautiful carving, with elegance and style. The shaped side rails also have a central carved medallion for decorative effect. It stands on elegantly carved small cabriole legs. So pretty! This lovely bed measures 138cm wide to the outside of the rails. The bed is 148cm at it's widest point across the bedhead and foot. It is 192cm in length to the inside rail. And approximately 200cm in overall length. A timber base could be fitted to the rails to hold the mattress which would be a standard double size.
