The Massive and Phenomenal headboard consists of two solid walnut undulating tall posts with incised carvings and dimensionally carved scrolled capitals. The phenomenal solid walnut decorated headboard panel connects to these undulating tall posts. Hi for sale I have two matching vintage/antique John Widdicomb twin beds. They have a beautiful French country design. They are in reall great vintage shape. The headboards have a painted foloral design. With a thick gold rope going around. I think the big tassles at the end. The beds are clean and smoke free. The rope might be coming apart a little at the seam. See photo#7(really no big deal) each measures: 42" wide x 78" long. And the headboard is 43 3/4" tall at the tallest measure. I live in a house full of vintage beds. And you can make them work with modern mattresses. If you push these two beds together, you could make it a king. A typical king bed measures: 83" long x 52" wide. In my own home, I measured my mattress, I had to pull my two twin beds apart a little. Antique Twin Rope Beds
Two Beautiful rope twin beds. Circa early 1800s, from New England. The beds are maple, have cannonball-shaped posts with tapered legs, and original wood finish. They come with mattresses(one mattress is horse hair) There are metal brackets installed which securely hold the box springs in place. Currently. Plywood is inserted on the brackets to provide support for the mattresses, however if a box spring is installed, there's no need for the plywood. Of course you can add rope as originally intended. I have a 1979 appraisal stating the value for both beds at $1100. These beds will have to be picked up from my residence in Central Florida.

This is a pair of matching mahogany twin beds that date from the 1930s or’40s. They came in with bad side rails and our cabinet shop refabricated ... morea new matching set of side rails that are identical to the originals. The beds themselves are really nice. With flame turned finials that are very delicate and fragile, rope or barley twist carved posts with rice carving on the base, and multi-turned bottom knobs. The headboards have a wonderful solid mahogany shield back, and the footboards have cross-stretchers that are spiral turned. The outside dimensions of the beds are 40 inches wide with the footboards 51 inches high at the finial and 32 inches at the cross-stretcher. The headboards are 59 inches high at the finial and 39 inches at the top of the shield. Inside dimensions, for mattress purposes, are 39 inches wide, and 75 inches long and the box spring sets on top of the rails. It’s a great-looking pair of beds that has been all re-sprayed in a dark mahogany stain finish, and are all set to go. I got these beds from an old farm house in Ohio. I was told the first one was a rope style bed so that is what I am calling it. The bed has some scratches and wear because it is very old. It looks to be in original condition. I have added lots of pics so you can see the condition.Both are a bed and a half or 3/4 sized which ever you prefer to call them(about four inches smaller than a full sized bed) The second bed I have just added to the listing also came from the same house. It is very primitive but cool. It has a very tall head board and a rounded foot board. It has an ornate piece on the top but it is broken in a couple of places.
