The two top drawers are functional and have the original brass pulls/hardware on them. The two bottom false drawers are not and were never functional. They have the original pulls on them. Beautiful antique Victorian walnut high back bed/91" tall/ full size bed/awesome
This offering is for the beautiful antique walnut Victorian high back bed pictured. It is 91 1/2" tall and the headboard is 59 inches wide. It takes a full size mattress. The foot board is 31" tall. The trim piece at the very top of the headboard is not original; it was added at some time before we purchased the bed over 20 years ago. The original rails are included and the ends of each rail are pictured for you. I have also pictured the corner pieces of the foot board; they are ornately curved. Two items to note: At one time. There was a small crack in the wood in the foot board leg on the left side(as you stand at the foot of the bed and look at the headboard) I removed the side rail from the bracket in the leg and made the necessary repair, using carpenter's glue and then nailed it in place with two small brad nails and clamped ... morethe repair until the glue was fully set.it is a strong and barely noticeable repair but I did want to identify and picture it for you. On one of the rail pieces. The 1" x 1" piece of wood upon which the slats rest had some damage to it when we purchased the bed over 20 years ago. I replaced the piece with a solid oak trim piece of the same dimension. It was glued in place and also screwed to the side rail, making it a very strong repair with no breakdown of the repair for the past 20 year(this repair is also pictured for you.the repaired rail is the one on the left side as you view the picture) The offering is for the headboard. Footboard. Rails, and slats. The cushion opens up and folds out to reveal a hand made mattress, additional legs and even a hand made pillow. The mattress and pillow are made of straw and horse hair stuffing and are very heavy and amazingly in great shape. All antique experts that I have asked about this piece agree that this is extremely rare and nothing like they have seen. It has a metal plaque on the bottom with date and patent number from Boston. OMG! So rare to find a ciel-de-lit with its original matching drapes! This one is simply divine with its large decadent bow full of faded elegance. The gorgeous ormolu canopy has three arms beautifully scrolled with a lovely torsadé ribbed ceiling rose. There is a soft natural verdigris all over with original gilding peeping through. a look that simply cannot be reproduced. This gorgeous patina is enhanced by the faded shades of pink of the antique drapes. All printed with charming bunches of rose and country flowers. And our little princess girl is so sweet just waking up with her rosy cheeks and blue eyes! It measures in total 4" x 2" x 3 1/2" The lid itself measures about 2 1/2" x 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" on just the baby's length. The bottom is 1 1/2" x 2" For a porcelain over 100 years old there are a few condition issues: some of the gold gilding is off in places. There is one small chip to the inside rim of the bottom box and the tip of one the baby's blue stripped sock's has chipped off. Solid Brass Canopy Bed(stead) richly detailed with ornate and heavy brass castings. All decorative parts are solid brass and the four posters and are inlaid with elegant scroll carvings. The headboard and footboard also have heavy moulded carvings in place. The bed has a fabulous and elegant design with four"etched" see pictures) posters supporting an 8-spine canopy. This is a burl walnut inlaid oversized full-size bed that has a curved footboard. And came out of a container from Belgium and dates from ... morethe 1920s era. It has turnip shaped tapered legs, a beautiful triple panel section on the footboard, and maple pinstripe inlay around the burl walnut panels going around the straight grain walnut, and also an ebony checkerboard type inlay. The bed is 62 inches wide on the inside, 57 inches tall at the headboard, and 33 inches tall at the footboard. The inside dimensions are 59 inches wide, and 74 inches long. The bolt-in side rails are even all inlaid and decorated, and make the bed all tight and sturdy. It originally had four legs on the front, one of which is missing. Spectacular Gothic Victorian carved Walnut Bed & marble top dresser 1860 Lincoln
This two piece bedroom suite is from the 1 86 0's in the Gothic style made famous by the"Lincoln Bed" It is a beautiful. Dark solid walnut with much graceful carving and paneled burl accents. A ll pieces are the same color-the variation in the photos is from the lighting and light coming in the w indow by the footboard-and the distance from my camera. This elegant set consists of the headboard. 7" tall, the footboard, curved) and the two footrails with original metal braces and side extensions. We have the bed set up as a queen. With a Q-metal frame, but you can see the slots on each side of the headboard where the side rail extensions fit. With the rails and footboard, it makes a full-size bed with full-length mattress and box springs. There is still remnants of the old paint around the sides showing the beautiful floral carving around the three sides. This piece was made for a conservatory or enclosed sun room and perhaps had cushions at one time. Originally from a California High End Estate.
