I don’t like to always say this, but it resembles a piece from Horner although I don’t believe it to be made by Horner. It is certainly a high-end quality piece. It has an extra heavily 1.25 bevel edge mirror that swivels and is in good condition. The mirror is wrapped around by a solid brown mahogany frame with carvings all the way around, rope twist going up and the very top corners having angels carved in both sides. A beautiful Antique Primitive rope bed from the early 1800's. Thick turned posts. Rolled Sleigh headboard panel with hand chamfered shaping. All original rope pegs intact as well as the original old long bolts for assembly. Heavy sturdy hand crafted primitive rope bed in great condition. It has a thick turned blanket roll on the headboard. This Headboard measures 40" high; the corner top posts measure 39" tall. The exterior width from the outside of the rails is 61" and 56" wide interior rails measurement; the bottom corner posts are 34" tall. This bed was probably made between 1910 and 1920. The original finish has not been altered! Includes: headboard 56.5" W x 48" H. Foot board 56.5 W x 38" H, and original iron side rails 78" long. This is a Late 1800's 3/4 rope bed. This truly is authentic shabby chic. This belonged to my friend's grandmother. It is from the late 1800's. It is a 3/4 rope bed. It is just the Head& Foot boards. I do not have the ropes or any other parts. My friend got it evaluated& in 1992 if refinished was appraised at $900. It has not had anything done to it& has been in storage all this time waiting to go to a good home. May be able to turn it into a twin size but not sure! Measures total from end to end 50-1/4" Individual posts are 2-1/2" across. Tallest part is 43-1/2" There are some cracks in the wood here& there but is is still all in tact! Antique 1800's Cannon Ball 3/4 Rope Bed Very early 1800's antique rope bed, I believe made of maple wood. With cannon ball posts. The bed is very sturdy and is in very good condition. It appears to be handmade, with excellent craftsmanship, however, it is very old, and does have scuffs, scratches, and cracks typical of antique post beds of this age. All pieces of the bed, including the head board, foot board, and two rails are original. The bed can be put together and also taken apart very easily, and the frame has multiple holes ready for roping. A great piece for any situation.

If you know how to find the age, please contact me. The bed measures 55 1/2" tall to the top of the headboard and 34" tall to the top of the footboard. The bed is 78 1/2" long x 53 1/2" wide. One rope knob has a piece broken off. As shown in photo 9. One side rail has been repaired, as shown in photo 4. This is a TRUE Antique Handmade. Rare Quality.could go in a Museum or still be used in your home. These beds are Unique and Rare. Especially here in Hawaii! Well over 100+ years old. Circa Early 1800s. WONDERFUL condition, I have used it continuously since I bought it at an antique store in Santa Rosa, California in 2000. I shipped it carefully to Hawaii in 2002. My home is smoke free. The mattress is included; it was custom made in the 90's by the owner before me. It is slightly bigger than a twin, about as big as a full. I use full size sheets on it. The bed is sturdy, has plenty of storage space beneath, and is always a conversation piece. Antique rope bed. Fantastic shape, must have been redone one spindle been glued
This was my mothers and looks like it was redone somewhere along the line. It has a high gloss clear over it all over. The spindle was broken by a nephew of mine years ago. It was wood glued back together and is fine now. But the spindles are only 1/4" thick at their narrowest point and are decorative and fragile and not really child friendly. It looks like the spindles were all handmade as none are completely identical. It also has a twin mattress and a feather mattress to go on top of it shown that the buyer can have along with a feather pillow. My mother collected antiques and nothing she had was a reproduction. This is the real deal. Solid(whatever the wood is) There is a twin mattress and a feather mattress to go on top and a feather pillow(shown) that also go with it. We could store it for a month or so in the garage but when the ... morehouse sells. The feather mattress will have to go. The size is about 50" wide(the frame) 78" long and about 51" tall to the top of the corner balls. Starting cheap. Indian horsehair rope owned by Hooker Jim, Modoc warrior during Lava Bed War
This 25foot horsehair rope has a storied past. The tag states it was bought from Hooking Jim(Hooker Jim) A member of Captain Jack's(Kintpuash) band of Modoc Indians involved in the Lava Bed Wars. We read about the Modoc suppression in an article by Walter Coffey. Evidently Captain Jack refused the U.S. governments demand that the Modocs give up Hooker Jim, leader of a rogue band of Modocs responsible for killing a dozen white settlers. Later Hooker Jim agreed to hunt down Captain Jack and his band in exchange for amnesty. Captain Jack was hanged. Hooker Jim was exiled to Indian Territory, now Oklahoma. My grandfather was the purchaser, probably in the late 1800s. The first picture is of the rope, second is Hooker Jim and the third is Captain Jack.

Antique rare late 1800s Victorian spool or rope style bedroom set. This vintage set of 3 includes all original bed frame consisting of headboard. Footboard and rails, the original springs will also be included) chest of drawers/dresser, and hard to find cabinet which originally held a wash basin. The cabinet was slightly modified in the early 1900's for kneedlepoint. Knitting, and/or sewing use. The bed is sometimes referred to as the"Jenny Lind" style. These are original authentic pieces fashioned out of beautiful sturdy hardwood with the original finish. There is minor wear, but all are in remarkable condition for their age. The foot of the bed frame does have a chip which I have tried to show in the pictures. The photos do not do these pieces justice, they are the best I could get in my friend's garage. The foam seat is comfortable for music practice, with room inside for sheet music and book storage. This stool is made of a sisal-like material and would be a wonderful cat bed and/or kitten playhouse. With the seat cushion removed, this would make a wonderful plant stand. This also makes a lovely towel rack or holder. The stool measures about 17 1/2 inches tall including the removable cushion, and about 20 1/2 inches wide, and about 16 1/2 inches deep. Up for bid is an antique rope bed from the 19th century. It has a beautiful aged patina to it. I believe it is made from maple but not 100% sure. It does have some age cracks on a couple posts which I have shown in photos. But seems to be structurally sound. Antique Doll Bed& Bedding! A gift from Mary Lennox(born 1793) to a cherished daughter. Purchased at estate sale. R eportedly handed down for generations. Mattress on bed signed in ink"Mary Lennox over what appears to be a 7" A note is sewn on the mattress" Mary Lennox own writing. she was born 1793. February 14" We were able to track down some facts about Mary. She was(as indicated on her handiwork) born February 14. 1793 to Alexander& Elizabeth(McNair) Erskine. She married Captain Thomas Lennox April 20, 1820. We were told that the bedding and bed was made for a daughter(we cannot confirm that- however, one of the doll sheets is marked"Georgianna Lennox" and what appears to be"A 2" age 2? Mary now rests with her husband in Sheepscot Cemetery. Newcastle, Lincoln County, Maine. A picture of their ... moregrave site- along with Mary's date of passing(1878) and age(85) is shown in the listing. A WONDERFUL FIND! The bed is about 20 inches long; about 9.75 inches wide; about 8 inches tall(at head board)we think walnut. But cannot tell with certainty. The pieces are loose, and could be reglued. The foot board is missing. The old string support for the mattress still works fine. There are little marks and scratches here and there, but considering it was crafter well before the Civil War it is in impressive condition. The mattress(with mattress cover Mary made) fits the bed the bed nicely. Soiled. Stains a few tiny holes. The pillow is soiled& stained, but in remarkably good shape. The comforter is also soil& stained…and has little feathers trying to protrude! An extra pillow case and sheet are also soiled and stained, with a few little holes in sheet. The sheet has in black script"Georgianna Y(we think) Lennox A. 2" on it. One sheet is very white, and unsoiled compared to the other items of bedding. It looks newer than all the rest. AMAZING 1800's Mahogany Empire Rope Sacking Sleigh Bed Canvas Bedding Civil War
This item is totally outside of our norm so bare with us. We purchased this unique bed at a local thrift store here in Southwest Virginia. Zip 24073. This area has a rich history of Civil War battle sites& estates. We don't know the history of this item but from what we find it is dates the early 1800's. It's either a full or 3/4 size bed. I measured the headboard& its abt. 58" wide on outside& abt. 51" wide on the inside of the legs. When assembled you would tighten/turn the 4 posts that are attached to the canvas sail/sacking bedding. The metal gears/teeth would catch in the grooves to keep the bed tight. This is where the sayings"Sleep tight" Hit the sack" originate. Your bedding/mattress would go on top. Heard some people use a futon mattress on these! There is another bed like this on ... moreebay which is in better condition($2000) but does not come with the vintage canvas sacking bottom or metal hardware(RARE) From what we can make out the canvas sail material has been printed"Portland ME" and some numbers. Not sure of the meaning of this. We have more photos available if you are interested. We are not antique collectors but do know this is a rare piece of history that should go in a museum. 1870s 4 Poster Rope Bed Low Posts Ontario Canada Antique Primitive
This is a beautiful antique pine 4-post bed from rural Ontario. North of Toronto originally. I have owned this bed for over 40 years. And am now downsizing. It is a 3/4 size. Meaning it is 51 1/2" wide overall outside measurement, and it would take a 49" mattress. Length is 76" inside measurement. You could get away with a double mattress, but it will overhang a couple of inches on either side. The posts are 4' high. The posts are maple. The head and foot boards are pine. The blanket rail is maple. The original rope rails are on the ends. But have been missing for the sides as long as I have had this. We adapted it with old 1890's iron rails and it comes with a fitted plywood base, so all is needed is a mattress. It would be too high with a boxspring and mattress. Alternatively, you could attach the head and foot to ... morea boxspring base. This was refinished 40 years ago. So could have a little refresher of wax, but it is actually not bad. It could also do with a little tightening, but once put together with the rails and plywood, it is very solid and stable. Being maple posts, it is quite heavy. This is a very rare solid mahogany rope sleigh bed dating to the mid 19th century. This wonderful high end piece of furniture is stamped A&D 71 on one of the rails of the head or foot board. This piece is in excellent original condition. The cloth attaching the side rails is not in the best of shape, it is torn. This was a high end bed, it features a ratcheting system to enable the use to tighten the ropes as the stretched over time! I have heard of people using a thick memory foam mattress or a pillow top mattress on these rope beds. This is either a full or 3/4 size bed. Antique Tiger Maple Daybed Sofa Hired Mans Bed Early 19th Century Rope Bed
An authentic Early American maple wood Hired Mans or daybed made in the first quarter of the 19th century. It is an original period piece. And not made from another piece of furniture. This has finely turned tiger maple posts and rails with highly figured curly grain. The original rope seat support was replaced many years ago with a very comfortable drop-in cushion built on a spring loaded wood frame. The cushion is covered in mohair velvet and shows some wear. This measures 72 inches wide. 26 inches deep and the back is 28 inches high. The top of the cushion measures 19 inches from the floor. It is solid. Sturdy, and quite heavy, with no problem of supporting a lot of weight. I recommend Plycon or Uship for freight shipping from zip 13066. It weighs about 100 pounds. Antique painted sacking bottom rope bed St Helena NY New York 1839 signed
For sale is this early 19th century SIGNED American sacking bottom bed(also commonly referred to as a rope bed by some) The bed is painted and signed"Mack Beardsley. St. Helena, NY 1839" It features lovely stenciled decoration and the surface appears to be original. The overall measurements of the bed are approximately 41" tall, 75" long, and 37" wide. It was obviously cut down at some point and made smaller, possibly to accommodate a smaller room for a child. The headboard has a straight cut down the center, and there is a board fastened to it on the back side, probably to reinforce the headboard. We think the foot rails were cut on each end to accommodate the change in size, so the modification is really not obvious at the foot of the bed. This is an early bed and therefore is not a modern standard size bed, and ... moreyou would probably need to have a mattress special ordered to fit it. The side rails are opposable screw in rails, and they do not fit very snugly anymore; with a little tightening/modification they would work fine. While it is in nice antique condition and the paint looks good, it is more than 150 years old and there are dings, scratches, and it does show wear commensurate with use. A 19th century brown painted canon ball sacking bottom/rope bed. Iron brackets have been added to this piece to accommodate a full size mattress. It would have originally been on castors but the castors have been removed(we do not have them) It is in good antique condition overall. But naturally there are some scratches, dings, and loss to the paint in some areas, commensurate with use and age of the piece. We don't think the brown paint is the original surface.
