Beautiful Vintage Queen Size Bed that includes the headboard. Footboard, rails, and slats. The mattress is not included. The bed has a medium finish and I am not sure what type of wood it is. It comes with four slats for support. There is no markings that indicate the maker of this bed. My mother purchased it at a local antique store. Circa 1860– 1880, which boasts a single tier structure with a triple carved floral panel(a sign of good quality) and spindle headboard. Towards the top the headboard sits an open floral carved fretwork dome. Further above, sits an intricately carved floral crown, which is flanked by two angels. The footboard, headboard and sides rails also feature a carved floral fretwork. The footboard also features turned beaded spindles below a barley twist shaped footboard rail. Above the bed frame, the barley twist tapered posts support a protruding carved floral dentil canopy. There are very pretty floral motifs sitting at the top of the posts. This bed has a mid-brown colour it boasts the original polish, which is why it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received. This bed would look very good in either a contemporary or traditional setting. Maple 1840 Antique Queen Size Empire Poster Bed. Removable Canopy. Hand carved about 1840 as a"rope" bed with a removable canopy. This American Empire period antique was expertly adapted to fit a standard modern queen size mattress as shown. Solid maple. The satiny finish is in excellent condition. Original side rails with holes for stringing a rope"spring" were extended. An upholstered pallet or"bunky board" is included to use instead of a spring unit, photos show a standard queen size mattress that is 10" thick. Delicate and well proportioned posts are beautifully hand carved with a spiral motif on this historic furniture. Large bolts secure this bed together. They have brass covers.
