We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful pair of early maple hand carved pineapple poster beds in the primitive style of the bed ... moreof the era that probably dates from the 1860s. they have been converted into a modern regulation twin size beds with modern day rails made for them. The old style rope items on the headboard and footboard are still intact. The shield on the headboards center panel is early pine and the rest of it is all hardwood. They have been refinished and re-sprayed in our shop to bring out the gorgeous glow. It looks almost like a cherry maple color. The posts are outstanding. They are the old version of the pineapple carving which are not like the cone shape versions you see today. The beds have bolt on rails to make them stout and sturdy. The overall size for mattress purposes is 39.5 inches by 75.5 inches. The headboard and footboard posts are 44 inches high. The height to the shield is 37” inches high on the headboard. A pair of vintage 1960s Ranch Oak Cactus Carved twin beds made by the A. Brandt company in Fort Worth. TX. Original finish. This furniture is exceptionally sturdy, and uniquely good looking. Two head boards, two foot boards, 4 side rails, and a bunch of oak slats. One of the original oak side rails has been lost, and a maple rail substituted. Mattresses not included. These matching twin beds were part of an southern estate find we recently ran across. They were purchased in 1930 per the family account from a company that was founded in 1929 in Nashville. Tennessee known as Wheeler Furniture. They were brought back to the lower state of SC and used there until their move to Spartanburg, SC in 1975. They were placed in storage in 1980 and have been there for over 34 years until we pulled them out a few weeks ago. Made from beautiful mahogany, each set includes a headboard, footboard, and two side rails each. They are VERY dusty and dirty from storage and could use a VERY good cleaning and possible refinishing upon new ownership. They do have normal wear as to be expected from age, use, storage, and the unforgiving Southern heat that they faced in storage! They have been sand blasted and powder coated in a gun metal grey with black trim along the edges and are both as shown in the photographs. This pair could be used in a large main bedroom for a couple, placed in guest accommodation as a matching pair, or as separate beds in smaller bedrooms. ... moreGreat versatility! This pair of beautiful beds are of mahogany construction. And feature diamond or herringbone veneers that ooze quality workmanship. The shaped bedheads are quartre veneered and finished with ormolu mounts. Crossed ribbon ormolu mounts are also featured down the sides of the bed heads. The footrests of the beds have herringbone veneers with repeated ormolu mounts to match the bed heads.There are additional ormolu mountings to the base of the bed. On the side rails the herringbone inlay is repeated and the bedhead and base both terminate on turned legs. Simply stunning! The bedhead is 133cm at the widest point across the top of the bed and comes down to 122cm across to the outside of the rails. The measurement between the rails(from the inside) is 115cm and the bedhead stands 142cm high. The foot of the bed is 125cm across at the widest point and stands 88cm in height. There are wheel holes under each foot. The second bed is missing it's side rails but they can be replaced with aftermarket metal rails available locally or online.
