This specific chair was made during the Renaissance revival period and is heavily sculpted with the classical patterns of this era. The central slat is nicely sculpted with acanthus leaves and mounted with a cartouche flanked by detailed Lion’s Heads, all standing on the curved seat below, with nicely scrolled armrests on each side, supported by a sturdy X-shaped pediment with H-shaped stretcher for stability. Absolutely beautiful pair of twin beds with rails and cross boards. I do not know the age or maker of the beds. They look like mahogany to me but I'm not really sure maybe their walnut. You be the judge. I am not able to ship these beds, I am asking for local pick up only, if you would like them shipped you will need to be responsible and arrange to have a shipping company come and pick them up. They appear to be quite sturdy and are in nice condition except for scratches. Marks and a little bit of mildew from storage as seen in photos. We had to replace one of the wooden balls on the finials that was missing. Also someone had broken one of the finials. Which was on crooked and we have re-centered it. The beds will take a modern day box spring and mattress as the inside dimensions are 39 inches by 75 inches. They have big iron brackets. Listing tonight is a matching pair of fabulous solid maple antique cannon ball beds in great shape. Estate sale find. These are true mortise and tenon construction with through bolts for unmatched sturdy results. They have a nice cannon ball turning that goes with many different styles and settings. The side rails are massive and are let into the footboard and headboard. They have the original metal box springs that hang from angle iron brackets for support. These are more comfortable than today's box springs that will not last. The finish is a colonial maple, a nice color that is original and has some wear and scuffs but they can be cleaned up with furniture restorer. At time of listing it was freezing and would not work well. These beds have it all, a classic look with nice under bed storage and if twins are on the way, this set would ... morebe a great start to that special room. The mattress would be 38 x 74 inches to fit this frame, making a standard twin mattress perfect. The over all size is 39 1/2 inches wide and 79 1/2 inches long with 12 inch under bed storage and 46 inches to the top of the turnings. The metal box springs are in great shape and could be re worked to use a newer one but this is the way to go for a true vintage look. These bed's were well taken care of and they are much better than today's versions being imported. They are dissasembled and ready to go but way too big to ship so local pick up is offered. If you are traveling through the area soon I can hold for you till then. I will help load and provide bubble wrap and assistance for you or a shipping service you may have. The Saint depicted on the headboards is St Bernard of Clairvioux and on the foot boards are Mother Mary and Christ Child. These carvings are in deep relief. It has been determined that the flags depicted on the footboards are a representation of the Crusaders with whom St Bernard was a supporter. The country of Origin is France. This is a very nice pair of antique twin beds made from solid oak. We purchased them in Hannover. Germany and brought them back with us after retiring from the military. The German family we purchased them from stated that they had been in their family since at least 1939, before the war. They each have a wood framed steel box spring and come with a twin mattress each. They seem similar to art deco in style with minor ornamentation of hand carved flowers on the head boards and harvest baskets on the footboards. They do NOT include the bedding set in the photo. They have the original wood slats included. I just finished wiping them down with furniture restorer and they look nice. Pair of 2--Twin/Single 100 yr old Brass Beds Out of an Inn
Today I am offering something very special-A pair of Brass Twin Beds. They are from the Clear Lake Hotel in Clear Lake California. That Hotel burned down in 1805. So this pair of beds are from the late 1700's. They were then in 1 family home for over 100 years. The time has come and the family is willing to part with them. They are wonderful! They are the basic style of brass beds. Rather plain with curved corners with cute little poles in between. They sit very close to the ground and the place where the mattress sits is higher. The headboard is aprox. 28 1/2 inches tall and 39 inches wide. The mattress holder is 11 inches from the ground. The foot-board is aprox. 20 inches high and 39 inches wide. The beds are in very good antique condition. They do have a few small dents here and there- nothing big. They really need a good polish-then ... morethey will POP! Right now they have areas where they are green and a few where you can see the brass color. The beds have rounded corners with 5 smaller"poles" in the center. Each one has a little flare added at each end. Each bed is the classic style brass bed that I would have given my teeth for when I was a teenager. I had to settle for a reproduction. They were just to hard to find then- plus they were $$$$$. To find a matching set now is almost unheard of. Please look at all of the pictures. They are a very important part of the description. Pair of Antique,Burl Walnut, Fluted and Carved,Four Poster Twin Beds w/paw feet
Pair of Antique. Four Poster, Burl Walnut Twin Beds. Posts are 6’4” 76” Fluted and adorned with carved acanthus leaves and large detailed paw feet. Head board is large with scrolled top. Carving on Foot board post, match the craved acanthus leaves on the 4 posts. Box springs and mattresses sit 33’36” off of the floor. They can be lowered to“frame” height for older or younger users by reversing the box spring holders. These were my great grandparents’ beds. My mother inherited them and used them as her guestroom beds. They are in excellent condition.
